Belt Drive belt rubbing on plastic with dolly!!!

I picked my sled up from dealer. Came home and opened up belt drive panel and saw plastic shavings in area. So there is a groove of plastic worn down where beltdrive hit on bottom. They ran the sled on a dolly to make sure oil is pumping and dolly pushed plastic up into belt. I called dealer and they are replacing the belt. It hardly did any damage to belt but better safe then sorry. I hope I can keep the slightly damaged belt for a backup!!! Just something everyone should keep an eye out for. I wish there was a little more clearance.

what about the bellypan....did it wear through that? not surprising that this happened, so many dealers are oblivious to something like this when they are moving and handling sleds....or they just don't care. I can't count how many times i have seen forklift damage on sleds because the guy stabs the forklift into the sled not caring what he is doing and something gets f'ed up. Cool that you will have a back up belt now though!

It's just a tinny groove worn in belly pan not to concerned about it. I'm just trying to decide if that plate is worth it. I personally won't ever have it on a dolly. I am just concerned on snow pressure and other things. It won't take much pressure to hit the belt drive and do some damage

I pick up my sled Tuesday. I plan to look at the area and decide what to do. I'm a big fan of TCP, but believe I have the ability to do something better than pay that for a TCP's piece.
Not knocking them.

Bagger, Mike can build you one kinda like he did on mine with the extended belt drive. Se ya Tuesday.

Should there not be concerns using the sled dolly whether it's running or not? It is obviously putting undo pressure on the bottom pulley/axle.

This gaurd is nothing new. We used to have to make these whenever we did Tison chaincase drop & rolls back in the day.

That would be great Mark, that would make two 'SnoDawg Mfg' parts on my sled . . . . I saved your very trick tether plate from the wreck.:face-icon-small-coo

Actually, everything worth keeping from the wreck fit easily inside a brown paper grocery bag . . . . sigh.

Back on track, it seems to me that making a whole lower piece and cutting out the plastic bellypan under the lower gear/belt would be the way to go, no worries about rubbing/wear because there would be more room, and it would be easier to make a symmetrical guard to put back in it's place that wouldn't collect ice underneath the sled.

I don't get the sled until Tuesday, then it will be poke and tickle time !!

Looks like a good project for my first CF attempt.

Could that be the cause of Burants belt failures?

I guess on Tuesday, we'll just unload it from your truck and put it in mine. I think I can find room in the shop, lol. That wouldn't be very nice would it, Ha Ha.

Rotflmao!!! You noticed??

That was hilarious!!

It's amazing what happens when summer comes around. The heat does wierd things to a guys mind. Maybe it's because I didn't get my August ride in this year.:yo:

I will be making some of these up in the next couple of weeks. They will be stronger (ie better designed) and cheaper than the ones from the other guys.
