Belt deflection screw on secondary

Last week, was riding the trail up to the play areas, just as I got to the play area, I felt my sled hesitate (almost like as if I hit neutral while riding a dirt bike). WTF, so I open up the exhaust side panel to ensure the QD belt is okay, which it is.

Open up the clutch side panel, notice the jam nut is MIA, and the belt deflection screw is backed almost all the way out.

WTF, how does this sheer off like this? I could understand if I over torqued it while tightening and it snapped, but this happened while I was riding!

Either way, no big deal, there was only like 4+ feet of fresh pow, and I had to limp back to the truck (which was also very interesting)

Stopped by the dealer on the way back home and picked up a new screw/jam nut. Install and adjust the belt deflection to spec... Fast forward to yesterday...deep day again, pull a couple climbs, and hear the belt squealing when stopped. Check the clutches, and the screw/nut backed out. Snug it up, and 15 mins later, I pop a belt...the clutches are on fire and the ****ing screw/nut have worked their way out again. I torqued that bitch down and no matter what, it would work its way out again! WTF! happened 5-6 times in a few hours. Decided to call it a day.

So, should I just apply some blue loctite on the screw? It seems no matter how tight I get the jam nut, it backs out.

I have seen this happen more than once lately! (mostly on MY 18) My suggestion here would be to put a 1/4" star washer under the nut as well as the blue loctite and torque as necessary against the star washer. I think that you could over tighten the lock nut and cause the bolt (which is relatively soft to stretch and shear or fail.

I don't know how many of those I have changed since I got my first Team Clutch equipped Polaris sled. Seems like the bolt "pre-cracks" when the jam nut is tightened and then it falls of after a while.

I always try to have at least one spare bolt at hand always. That said, I just realized I used the last one I had, better go shopping!
