Beginning of the end of mountain riding

These politicians follow the money. The bark lickers have it. So do offroad enthusiasts. I mean, it's nothing for a jeeper to throw 25k at a jeep or crawler in a year and then 5 to 10 k every year thereafter. Nothing for a sledder to throw 20k every year at a new sled and turbo. We have FOUR huge companies with piles of money making sleds, side by sides, ATVS, PWC, etc and I never hear anything from them. I do hear from BRC every month and read the newsletters. The MFRs need to step to the plate andget some bigtime lobbyists just like the environazis do. The bignames in the offraod world need to step up too, become way more vocal. Pastrana, Burandt, and so on. They can't leave the fight to Joe Schmo making 65k a year, which is what they are doing.

The bark lickers have hiking, snowshoing, X-country and backcountry skiing. Offroad users have Sledding, dirtbiking, jeeping, rock crawling, baja, enduro, and so on. OHV users need to stop being selfish. If they can afford to blow money on new sleds and jeeps every year, then maybe they should ride the same sled for a few years and donate the money that would be spent to SAWS or the BRC, otherwise that shiny new sled they get every year will just sit there. It's a no brainer peeps.

Update

Update from John Bender with Idaho Snowmobile Association.

"Winter Wildlands Alliance (WWA) Lawsuit:

WWA filed its Complaint on November 29, 2011 challenging the USFS’s exemption of OSV’s from mandatory travel management under the 2005 Travel Management Rule. WWA asserts that the OSV exemption in the 2005 TRM violates Executive Order 11644. WWA is seeking declaratory relief seeking to have the OSV exemption overturned and require the USFS to include OSV’s in its travel management planning. Both ISSA and BRC filed as interveners.

**** arguments were held in Federal District Court in Boise on November 14th. We expect a decision in 30 – 60 days. No predictions but our attorney Mike Ealy did a good job as well a Paul Turcke who represented BRC. The judge asked good questions and demonstrated a knowledge of the issues. Will let you know when the decision comes out."

THIS COSTS $$$$ Have you sent $$$ to BRC or some other group to fight these lawsuits that are trying to end your riding on federal lands? Or will you be one to take your $10,000 + mountain sled and turn it into a flower pot and sit on your deck and tell your kids what freedoms we used to have? :yo:
