I have 3 brand new snowmobilers? wondering where I could take them to ride and not get in the way of people who want to go faster etc, then they will be going. we live in post falls so we are open to where to go. thanks for the help.

you are in a decent spot...I'd just find some good groomed trails for them to cut their teeth on. You could head up to priest lake or down to McCall...both have everything they could handle and then some.

open area

Is there an area close by that has like an open area that hey can kind ride in circles to cut there teeth with? the sleds are licensed and have the groomer sticker. just thought maybe there was a place with no obstructions they could start out on. thanks in advance.

go to 4th of july pass there there is a parking area on the north side of freeway. lots of easy places to ride with groomed trails and warming huts.

Farragut State Park

Farragut State Park in Athol has an open area you can ride. Call before you go to make sure they have it open. Athol has around a foot of really hard snow still on the ground.

I would take them there first then load up the trailer and head up Bunko for trail riding. The CDA mountains have the best trails in the area and they are in your backyard. Went into the Cascade Lodge on Wednesday night via Bunko and the trails were in pretty good shape. Granted, its tough to tear up concret!

McCall grooming has been great

The grooming is in great shape and there is lots of easy riding. come visit and I will take you out and show you around. maybe even throw in some pointers for the new riders.

Head up to the Priest Lake area, if you can go during the week, you will have the entire area to yourself. I go up there on Wednesdays and most of the time I am the only rig. in the parking lot. Miles and miles of good trails.

Sorry I forgot to add. About 8 miles south of Nordman across the Hwy. from the Ranger Station there is a very large flat area to ride. (Hanna Flats) its an Airport that is closed/empty during the Winter time. It the same area that they have the Dog Sled Races every Year. Hope this gives you another area to check out.

A little farther south but worth the trip, Elk River Idaho. Large flat area (75 acres or so) where the mill used to be, now an airstrip. Tons of groomed trails that lead to large flat meadows about 5 miles out of town. We rarely see more than 20 sleds all day unless there is a poker run. 6 inches of fresh snow this weekend! Need directions PM me.
