Bear Lodge

Was wondering about snow conditions myself. We are heading out to Bear Lodge and then WY High Country between Feb 11-15. I had heard that snow conditions weren't very good due to some high temps. Does anyone know what it is like out there?

I was up last weekend and there is a lot of snow up there, but we haven't gotten any new snow that amounts to anything in a long time.. So the snow has settled a lot. (great base) We just need about 2 feet on it and we will have some great riding..

You can find good snow in the trees, but some open areas are pretty hard packed and tracked up. Trails seemed to be in good shape, at the least the ones we rode.

I would say you will have snow to ride for sure, but it isn't the best snow right now. But hey your riding!!:D:D:D:D

We were up last week, wasn't good as what they had told us, so we packed up on the second day and headed 4 hrs west and found what we were looking for.

So are you saying when you called they told you something different? How long from the time you called to the time you got there? I want to make sure I am understanding your statement correctly.

Was up there a week ago today had 8 inches of new snow to start the weekend out. The snow is great if you want to venture out, went south found places nobody had been in yet. Guess our group didn't have any trouble finding the good spots.

Well depends what you call good, sure we found all kinds of untouched hardpack and even someplace that were ok, but I don't think I would tell everyone its "good". Its wasn't "powder" the sleds pretty much floated on top of the ice crust layer and once in a while fell through, and yes we covered some area...Will be A+ with a good foot of fresh.

I keep hearing the better snow is further south. It's set up here as well and we could definitely use some fresh powder on top of what we have, but there's still plenty around and a lot more than other years!

Just got back tonight, rode three days, two days that were much better than we expected after the snow conditions were very poor down below. Once we got up through the trees in different spots, and along the creeks we found lots of untouched powder, buddy with a 144 had troubles gettin around in some areas. But you definitely had to work to get to the places

We are heading up there this wkend. I'm guessing since no one says anything about there being good snow... we should keep going west? Anyone have a report from the last weekend or later?

we were there last weekend

And unless it snows a foot + it is not going to be very good the snow was hard and getting a little hard to find untracked snow.

We were up there this weekend. The snow was better than we thought it would be. 6 inches or so on top in most places; otherwise you had to work to find some 3 ft powder in the trees.

We road 3 days this past weekend down south of Snoshoe lodge and had good snow on the east side of the trail and road in a lot of open areas untracked when we got there. We still saw areas that we could of got into if we had a couple more days of riding that had very few tracks or were still not track up. The west side also had huge areas untracked but found sugar snow but still had good riding. You just have to get a ways off the trail, most people stayed close to trail system.
