our group is planning on buying beacons this year and were just wondering what you guys thought on which one to buy. what do most people have? we dont really have alot of knowlege about them were looking for something simple to run but definatly reliable let me know what you guys think thanks alot

Check out the reviews at this site. www.beaconreviews.com I saw a demo of the Pieps DSP and Mammut Pulse Berryvox the other night. They are both expensive, but impressive.
I use a DTS tracker very easy to use

another vote for the DTS tracker....it is simple enough that my wife and son can use it even if its been a while since they practiced. Good product and great warranty.

Started with Peips skiing in the 70s, always a quality product, but you pay. Many very good transceivers out there now. Get a package w/ probe and shovel and take a class to learn how to use them.
Pieps DSP. Is easy to use also.
Mammut Pulse.
Easy to use, three antennas, great range and if your buddies are using them they will report the slightest movement along with each signal...

Pieps from GrandpaJ $275 IMO best deal
If you do go with a Pieps, be sure to get the newer version 5.0. The older versions work fine, but the 5.0 version has some upgrades to it. Otherwise you may be buying a beacon that you will just send back in to get upgraded.
