beacon abs free ride bag we need to hook up for a ride this year cold i no i was going to last year but it didnt work out let me know when u guys are comeing my way again

I'm not a hill climber but I do climb hills to get where I want to go off trail.

With that said I wear my beacon in my tek-vest and always have my shovle and prob in my pack. Eric

Everyone in our group wears beacons. We try not to climb hills @ the same time-one sled, one climb. If a guy gets stuck we usually huff it on foot to help out, depending on the hill. It's only 200-300 for a good beacon. Sleds are 8g's and up these days. Seen too many avy's and too many lost sledders to not wear one.

Everybody in the group I ride with wears them. We all took an avalanche awarness class at the snow show last year. I would recomend that class to anyone, It definately changed the way our group rides the backcountry and how we look at big hills

Some of our guys even wore beacons this weekend, no chance of a avalanche, but more habit than anything. Don't ride snowies without one, I hate hauling popsickles down the hill for the sheriffs office!!!!

Haha...too funny:beer; I lose the control box but the easy button comes down the other shoot:confused: Getting itchy looking @ pics from the Snowies:clock:

We ride the snowies almost every weekend in the winter. Our whole group usually 11 rides with beacons shovels and probes(among other things like ava lung ABS etc that a few carry) and every one knows hot to use them. In addition a few of us carry SPOT. This is an awesome tool never had to use it in an emergency and pray we never do but great for checking in when there is no phone service.

I have been wearing beacons and wearing a tec vest for about 10 years.. New last year was the ABS pack. Too many people are thinking that if I wear a beacon Iam safe!! There needs to be education on how to use the beacons properly... Before your group goes out please have some one go bury a beacon and take some time to learn how to use the beacons and find the beacon.. These guys that are riding with you have your LIFE in their hands if you were to get buried.. So I know everyone is anxious to go out and ride as soon as you get unloaded, but TAKE SOME TIME and teach everyone in your group it will only take 20-30 minutes and always carry extra batteries...
Does any one know if there are any avalanche safety courses in Wy.?

Poll - how many people use or don't use beacons when they ride the snowy range?

If in doubt just rent. I'll be honest and say I rode the Snowies last year without a beacon. I stayed away from areas that looked like they could slide and rode stuff that was tracked up for the most part or nothing too crazy. It was mid April so the chances weren't as great although they did have decent snow right before I got there. No one in the group I went with had a beacon and I was probably the most daring of the bunch. Would I do it again? NO, but I also prompted the group to have beacons for this year. You can rent them for between $8 and $12 a day and if you plan ride out west again it doesn't make sense not to have one. They didn't rent them where I stayed or we probably would have rented them. You can find deals online for a BCA Tracker with free shipping and a free probe for under $300.

Bought a tracker and probe tonight from SnowBigDeals.com for $300 shipped with a 300cm probe. I watched snowmobile avalanche videos on Youtube and scared myself to almost buy an ABS back, LOL.
