Beacon question

The group I ride in, we all bought the SOS f1ND beacons about 10 years ago, been using them and have nver had an issue. Most of the ew ones are digital. I would assume the digital beacons will not pick up an analog signal unless they are a dual signal beacon?

So we are talking about replacing these beacons, we have 6 of them. What is reccomended?

All beacons operate on the same frequency signal. Your SOS beacons will be picked up by all of the latest units. If you decide not to upgrade you may want to have them calibrated. Beacons can lose range over time.
Definitely read up on the new technology out these days. It might be something you and your group end up wanting to invest in.

beaconreviews.com is a good place to get an in-depth look at everything on the market.

BCA Tracker...easy to use, reliable, and proven...Check out the backcountry ski sites, you can get beacon-shovel-probe combo package usually for the cost of the beacon

One thing to remember is that if your beacens are that old, they may still be on the old frequency... also a dual frequency beacon will not transmit nor receive with the range of a new single 457 frequency beacon.

Any of the new Ortovox beacons are really easy and accurate as well as the Mammut Barryvox Pulse (the one I use) is super easy to learn and very easy to operate with gloves on.

Just about any of the newer beacons are worth purchasing, they are all held to the same standards as the others, but the one greatest obstacle to them is YOU! LEARN TO USE WHAT YOU HAVE!!! Simple as that.

Thanks.
