I just had my rock rollers in my rkt secondary on my 07 m8 secondary break. It made a huge mess out of my helix, its junk. Anyone else having problems with this? Will either of these manufactures back this up or am I just **** out of luck?

I was running one of Ron's secondary kits(sled junkie) on my MT1000,last year and thought it was ok,but figured I'd go to Kelseys MT1000 helix for the turbo.Sorry to say that it was a big mistake,it doesn't back shift fast enough and it pitches the belt rightr out of the secondary when free wheeling on the trail. It took a couple of gernated belts to clue in to what was up.I'm not happy with the set up,so I'm going to Twisted Turbos fix.Shain has been great to deal with and he may not be the cluthing guru that the others claim to be,but he knows his turbo,so I'll report back, wish me luck....

Have you talked to Mike or Kelsey about it? If not, I would start there. I'm sure they can do more to make it right for you than we can. Just my thoughts.

Why not be a man and talk to Kelsey before you guys start chit like this??? NOOOOOOOO ,much better to bash and make BS claims with out even calling the one person who can possibly help.:(:face-icon-small-sad

whos bashing anyone the guy just said he wasnt impressed with it, everyone has the right to there own opinion if he doesn't like it he doesn't like it. He payed the money for it and if it does not proform they way he likes he is aloud to say whats on his mind thats what this site is for if kelsey doesn't want his name brought up all the time he should have a company name so he's not singled out all the time

I know when the BD rollers first came out there were some problems with them breaking. A new improved set showed up in the mail one day without even requesting them and the material looked different. I think I had gotten them through HPS. Give BDX a call and see what they say....

Sorry, guys I was just a little upset at the time when saw it. I don't mean to bash anyone here I've had excellent luck with both companies and speak highly of both of them. I was just looking for opinions.

I have one 2ndary setup with the RK Tek and have had 2 sets of so called "Rock Rollers", completely blow apart. They are the old style yet purchased new this year for a 09. RK Tek works great for me, my opinion, even according to Kelsey what I am running shouldnt work, yet all but the rollers it does. Anyway, I went to CPC Aerospace rollers, which with no surprise Black Diamonds rock rollers are now the same material as Dales. Have not run them yet, trying to decide if I should buy a new 2ndary before putting it all back together, after two sets coming apart and eating a belt and a Helix each time I have to believe that the bushing in the sliding sheave is shot (there is noticable slop) and I dont want to wreck more parts and another (4th) belt!!!

Any thoughts?

I'll bash Kelsey, he's an *******, no help what so ever, I have phone him several times to get help and replacements, and he has been a complete egodick every time

if the secondary does not move freely then is sure as heck screws wih backshifting and often times inconsistent upshift too.

I have a tough time blaming a helix because a roller blew up and a metal to metal condition occured........now if rkt made the rollers, different story.

Yeah its not the helix's fault its the rollers. The helix works great!!!

Thanks for the thought, I understand that it has to move freely. RK Torsion conversion, with 38* straigt, green SP spring in 2nd hole.

Belt blew because of bind in clutch when roller failed.
Helix bad because of metal to metal after roller gave out.
Yet.....Why did roller give out, 9 bolts in sheave to helix, replaced with allenheads = no failure or loosening there. Clutch is clean, no burrs on the shaft. Pins in the roller are good, replaced the ones that broke!
Talked to BDX, I had the "updated" versions, yet managers all riding in Utah so no one to talk to!

Again thanks for input and thoughts!

I don't mean to bash either,it just makes me feel like an idiot when the clutch guys don't want to tell you the helix angle they're using, etc, etc, but will asure you that it is the best set up for your application.I've learned my lesson,if they wont tell me what there sending me,I wont buy it,no more of this" it is a special set up,and it is the fix for you".

I also went thru a couple sets of "rock rollers" and they came apart both times. BDX told me that they wouldn't last more than about a season. They probably were the "old" ones that everyone here is talking about, but I bought a cpc secondary kit with his rollers and have 2 seasons on it now with no problems whatsoever.

I just bought my RKT secondary kit for my 06' M7. Do you guys suggest not using the rock rollers and leaving the plastic one's in it? What about using the shift assist bearing with the kit. The shop I use to intall all my performance parts was asking about it and wasn't sure what to tell them. I call and emailed RKT but no answer yet, that was last Friday. Any suggestion would be helpful.

Thanks

i have not had a problem with the rock rollers, i had some problems dialing in the clutch. but it runs awesome now, there are just some many things that can screw up a clutch if you don't have them setup right.

M7-balls

yes use the rock rollors if you dont the plastic ones wont last they will get hot and leave flat spots as the the shift assist it wont work with the rkt kit when you go from a compression spring like whats in your primary to rkt which is a torsion twisting style spring thw shift assist wont work

Thanks thats the answers i was looking for. On the rollers, Kelsey said that it only comes with 3 rollers and the 06' M7 has 6. Whats up with that? Also what torsion spring should i use with this kit. I at 0 to 5000 feet but so time run at heighter elavation when i head to BC.

Take it easy buddy! I saw no bashing or bs claims untill your post. He was just stating a problem and asking a simple question. Whats the harm in that? Doesn't hurt anybody to ask if anyone else has seen the same thing on an open public forum. (key word being "open")
