BDX Pro-lite series inboard idler wheel?

If you're referring to the 2 wheel setup that mounts on the shock shaft, DO NOT waste your money on this.

Here's mine after 3 days in Colorado and 4 in West Yellowstone/IP.

This ****ty setup almost cost me a night out and it put a good deal of hurt on my rails as it was coming apart. Both of these kits in my riding group failed on the same trip with the same mileage. The wheels blow apart and then the shaft fails from flexing.

Thankfully this happened when I was with a group who was diligent in finding me and not leaving me on the mountain. I was able to use the shop at the Goldenwest (great place to stay btw) to get my sled fixed up the next morning.

There's a reason the stock one is made of steel.
 
I did.

I installed a kit this summer. The previous post does not make me feel very happy about the kit. Anyone else experienced this type of failure?
 
I was with blk88gt when that happened, after his blew up I had a look at mine and it was nearly gone.

Wheels peeled off and the shaft had a nice bow to it. less than 300 miles on the kit.

BDX advised us they had a newer version that would address the above issues.

When was your kit purchased?

Hopefully I have the updated kit, and that the updates hold up.
 
The 3 days in CO were pure powder bondocking. The conditions in ID/MT were not great, but there was a lack of fresh snow by the trails. We spent a lot of time boondocking up in the Blue Creek/Centennial shores area trying to stay in the decent snow.

BDX said they had a bad batch of wheels, but I don't see how that adresses the bending of the aluminum shock shaft. Mike wanted me to ship the junk parts back to him but the leftover **** isn't worth the envelope or postage.

Both kits were purchased late last fall. I don't know what the new wheels look like, but I'd be more concerned about the shaft. The wheels were blowing off for a good year before I bought my kit and thought the issue was resolved.

here are the new wheels. I wondered why they were white and not black. Looks like I may be pulling these buggers off.

Has anyone run this kit for extended miles with positive results?

the wheels we had were black, those must be a harder compound


I'd say keep them on and watch close over your first couple of rides, if they start to wear pull 'em off.

I may go that route, but the bowed shaft is the real concern. I dont think firmer wheels will aid in keeping the shaft from bending, but I am no engineer.
 
Aren't the wheels supposed to support the shaft? With the wheels gone there is nothing to keep the shaft from bending down from the force of the shock on compression. Maybe if the wheels stay together there won't be an issue. JMHO

Was just thinking the same,but h... i'm no engineer..:)
 
Yes.

I do have the anti stab kit (pictured above). I am not worried about that as it will not be making consistant contact with the track, and it does not support anything or experience the forces the shock support will.

It allows you to eliminate the outer bogie wheels, and still save on the hifax at the bend in the rails. It also helps to keep the track nubs from rubbing the shock mount shaft.
 
I see. I never thought about the driver nubs rubbing that shaft. If it was for saving the hyfax only, I wouldn't even worry about it. Hyfax is "cheap". I don't run any idler wheels on my float skid at all, buy I will check out that nub rubbing thing.

The BDX anti-stab kit is one of the best out there! I run theirs on my M1000 and will always run one. CHEAP INSURANCE!!!

and this kit did nothing to help that, the inside nubs on my track wore out the aluminum shaft, I think the wheels were just a bit to small and didnt get the clearance the shaft needed to miss the nubs.
I'll post a pic once I get home.
 
I'll have to keep an eye on mine. It is the white colored setup, but now I'm a little concerned. Only have about 3 days worth of riding on them, but they are still in good shape.

Maybe the wheels are supposed to support the shaft, I have no idea. All I know is the stock shaft has no wheels and didn't bend. Harper's shock shaft was bent too. I still have what's left of this stuff here. I can get a picture if anyone wants.

I hope the new wheels work out for you guys. They sure didn't for us and all BDX could say was "send the parts back".

I'm just glad I brought the old parts with us on our trip and that the cat dealer in west let me pick through their stuff to find what I needed!
