BDE Bumper Kit on 1M Chassis

I would suppose that the bumper is riveted on from the inside, Not bolted? Are the two top black brackets welded to the bumper, And are they for mounting the rear flap. Or for strengthening the bumper? Nice set-up by the way

Mike

1Mike900: Yes, the bumper is riveted on from the inside, The top two angle brackets are riveted to the bumper with 2 small rivets then bolted on to the top part of the tunnel. It does add alot of strenght to it.

Well Darin finished up his snowflap and bumper now. I stopped over there and the rear cooler is SOLID. I doesn't even move, so I would find it hard to believe if there will be any problems with it at all down the road. BDX did a good job making these, I think anyways. Darin had a piece of aluminum bent up to where he wanted it, so the flap doesn't get in the track, and it looks really clean. Here are some pics.
What do you guys think?

I have this bumper kit on my 04 MC 144 and the bumper sticks out further than that one

I think it is because of the difference in lengths between the tunnels. Darin's sled above has a 162 and yours is a 144 so there will be quite a bit of difference in the lengths. Maybe you will have to cut yours down for it to fit right or how you want it.
Hope this helps

I'll see how it looks with a snow flap I can't decide on what to use for a flap or I can leave it long and have it as a wheelie bar just incase that 600cc makes too much hp

Hehe, just stand on the back bumper and ride for miles:D You'll have to post some pics when you get it all done. Where in SD are you from??

Im thinking of putting this on my sled. Would it fit on a 02 moutain Cat. It is a 136" so it would stick way the heck out there but it would help my sled alot and like xf800 said it would be a wheelie bar incase my 570 decided to get powerful lol. Also how much is this kit and how long does it take to install?

Ok thanks so on this kit do you just cut your running boards down then you attach your foot supports where your bumper ends on the tunnel? Sorry not much of a mechanic lol

Yep, you put the foot supports on and behind them you cut off the running boards, and you can taper the bumper or cut off as much as you want for the angle that you want.

I probably wouldnt use a cutting torch, I think most people I have heard use either a cut off wheel, a jigsaw of somesort, maybe even a sawsall if your a straight cutter

I used a cut off wheel It took around acouple of hours to install you are going to have to cut the bumper off about 7-8 inches if your going to put it on a 136 tunnel. I would highly recomend it, excellent product and BDX is a good company to deal with

The rear bumper off of a 90s polaris XLT fits damn near perfect. Then that leave you doing a little fab work and your good to go. When I do mine (not any time soon to busy riding it) I will post pics

It looks like BDX has discontinued this part. Does anyone else make something similar? Or maybe someone has a used one for sale.

I am mostly interested in shortening my running boards. I am tired of getting hung up in the deep powder.
