Dont really read flat land Magazines but found this one at the airport book store American snowmobiler,,Test done at Alpine wyoming at Troy Johnsons Shop ( Lincoln county customs formally Alpine Yamaha) all the riders were real mountain riders from the alpine area Including Rob hoff of slednecks fame.and Casy Alread from the snow weest guys I belive ,,Any ways they ran there test a little differently than the Snow West tests ,,They ran an RMSHA course with timming and a straight up run with no turns and Guess which sled was deemed the best???????????????? fastest time up through the gates and up the deep powder hill ?????????
DRAGON WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DRAGON WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

only because the others ran out of gas:)
polaris does have the best stock clutching out there.:beer;

:eek:

WOw guess I better go get a dragon then so I can win! oh, yeah, i have one and want a cat....... This ish is so arbitrary, honestly the magazine should just every year give their ride and handling impressions and then say "go ride them all and see which one you like the best" Every time I read a shootout they crown a different sled. Eff it, I wanna see yamaha win an 800 shootout:)

How about we get Rob Hoff (PowderProject) to chime in and tell us the first hand facts. I talked to him right after he got done with the ride and he told me his lightweight 880 XP was 1 second behind Troy's turbo Apex. So that means the Dragon must have beat both those sleds? hmmmmm

DRAGON WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its NOT RMSHA style without turns, rocks, stumps, dirt, ice, or trees. Trust me.

Jay that would be one hell of a lightweight 880, to only be one second behind a tapex. Does it weigh 200lbs or something?:eek::rolleyes: Or did the guy on the apex just not know how to ride? Also I thought this was for the stockers everyone?:confused:

I think KAWGRN meant to say it did have turns, therefore the Apex with the extra weight would've been alot harder to maneuver through the turns then the really lightweight XP. Is what I'm guessing.

oh, well ya if its a tight course the stockers should of kept up nicely.

But I thought this whole thread was on the best stock for stock sled???:confused: Am I wrong?

I did run my 860 on the drag course. Yes in about 1000' uphill climb against the clock my xp was a second off of the Tapex. The clock does not lie.
Our personal sleds were not published in the article. We ran them purely for fun.

The course that we raced the STOCK sleds up was laid out up a hill snaking around a few trees. The course was pretty rutted up towards the end.
The dragon definitely felt like it had the best set up that day. Troy rode it very well on the course. He made that sled shine. It ran strong and hard. The XP ran marginal. The M8 was kind of a dog. It was a fun day and I would love to do it again. Set up is everything and that day the Dragon was setup perfect and ran very well. At the end of the time trails, Troy and I ran our personal sleds and we destroyed the stockers times. Good times

I dont know where KAWGRN is getting this story. But from what I understood there were mod sleds involved. I dont think it was another battle of the 8's.

I got the story right from the magazine !!!!Hey dont kill the messenger ,,,,,Im shure if I read enough Mags I could find one that says Cat or Yamaha wins thats why I wrote in the topic BLAH BLAH bLAH I own all three brands and think all my sleds are great!!! I just thought that this test Had more meaning to me than the SW test LOL:beer;
