Bark Busters on 09 700 RMK

This may be old news to some, but just wanted to let those that are considering Timbersled's A-Arm kit for their IQ chassis sleds, that these will not accept the std RMK rear mounted sway bar design. They can be adapted to work with the 09+ front mounted sway bar design like on the Dragons).

So I will be running w/o a sway bar and will initially set my Float2s at 70psi. Allen from Timbersled recommended 80psi but he did so without know my weight (around 195 to 200 w/gear).

For those that did remove the std RMK sway bar, did you block off the holes in the belly pan or just leave them open?

Forgot to mention that IceAge MFG has them on sale right now for $815 shipped. This a complete kit with the newly design machined aluminum spindles. These are not the tubular ones like in the pictures.

Here's a couple of pics of the new spindles:

I just had my first ride on the 38" Bark Buster kit yesterday. Like previously mentioned, I can not use a sway bay unless I go buy all the parts that come on the '09 - '10 Dragon models as I have an std RMK. Anyway, I also bought some Float2 shocks to use as well. Installation was much easier than I thought. I set my skis in the narrowest position and put 80lbs in the shocks, as recommended by Allen at Timbersled. On the trail, it was a tad interesting, but I've always had to deal with the aggressive nature of the Powder Pros and darting and I think the narrow ski stance, crude measurements have me around 36.5" to 37", and no sway bar allowed the sled to lean a bit more in the turns so I just compensated with my body more. Like most of you, I only use trails to get to the good stuff, so I just deal with it's trail manners. Now, get into the powder an it's all good. All I have to do is stand on either footboard and she wants to start leaning toward that side without input from me and getting her up all the way requires very little input from me. I will also admit, I'm still learning to ride in the powder, but this has set up made it so much more enjoyable. To be honest, most of the changes in the way the sled now rides is probably due to more of the narrowed stance and no sway bar, but the Bark Busters, spindles, and Float2s do look cool though.

Forgot to give Dave & Jason at Timbersled a huge thumbs up for their assistance. I initally ordered the 40" kit from IceAge and Timbersled let me return the black 40" kit (I hadn't installed it, just unpacked it) in favor of a red 38" kit. Timbersled surprisingly picked up the shipping charges to send me the new kit - I was expecting a call from them for me to pay for the new kit shipping charges.

So again, thanks to Timbersled, an awesome company with great customer service. I sent lots of e-mails w/??? and made a call or two in regards to the kit and my sled.

Yesterday I decided to change the ski stance. With a spacer on each side of the spindle, I went from 36 1/2" to 37 1/4" ski stance. Maybe it won't be so "interesting" riding the trails to get to the good stuff. Oh, each spacer is 5/8" wide.

Ditch the swaybar and plug the holes in the belly pan. Had to go up in tension on my front shock springs but overall a great mod for handling.

Forgot to previously mention that before my first ride with the new susp., I increased the shock psi from 70 to 80. Now waiting to see how the 37 1/4" stance works out.

removed the sway bar on my 10 800 rmk. put fox float 2's on the front at 85 psi. I am 195 before gear. Ski's on the narrowest setting. Sled was great on the trail except for corners. I never plugged the holes in the belly and had no problems with snow.
