Bargains in Canada?

Just thought i would let everyone know that the Canadian dollar dropped to a three year low vs. the US dollar today, .79 cents. This may mean 20% plus bargains for you. Many CDN retailers bought when the dollar was high and are selling for retail prices which were set when the dollar was at par.

Shipping is definitely something to consider but if you are not in a rush for your gear and go with the cheap shipping you may save 20% or more on your gear. Also if you are planning a sled vacation up North it may be the time to book and if you are picking up a Canadian made mod or really anything now is a good time. For now it appears cross border shopping for most things (sled related or not) is in your favour.

THis is not a unbiased post as i own a store, Avalanche Safety Solutions, (http://avalanchesafety.ca, however i am sure this is the case for many Canadian stores and this may not last (to be honest as a net importer from the States I hope the CDN dollar goes up). For now it is good for the tourism business and good for all shops selling to the US and their customers.

Unfortunately sleds seem to be the exception where we still pay more than you. What's up with that?

Man.. What a difference 2 weeks makes. I cant believe our dollar has tanked this bad. The Canadian economy is no where near as bad as the US, Our banks are all healthy and still our dollar tanks. Makes no sense. Should be the other way around.

Look when our dollar took off and look at when it tanked.
