Banned for same IP addy

FYI to those who work at large companies, small companies and also multiple users on home computers.

This site is banning all users with the same IP address assuming users have "alter egos." I was victim today, a friend yesterday and I assume many others as well as the company I work for has many users on this site.

This is what's happening: If you work at a company with a network of computers, only a few external internet connections will be available. Simply due to cost, too expensive for each computer to have its own internet connection. But anyways, off the subject, ... numerous users searching the internet could potentially identify the same IP address. This site does not know this, or doesn't care and is banning users without notice, investigation, or due process.

I was able to get my account back by explaining the scenerio. But I shouldn't have had to. So those of you banned, or one day could be banned ... know your IP address and your network. It may come in handy one day.

Yes, we did ban a specific IP Address that was being used by several different alters of one user on SnoWest that had been banned and banned and banned again.

In the end the only way to keep him, and all of his alternate identities OFF of SnoWest was to ban the source IP that he was coming in on.

When that IP happens to be a portal access point for a large corporation, then we run into a serious problem.

Sounds like if you have a bad apple using a computer where you work...you need to make him stop using the thing or make him shape up!!!

Yes I to was accused of having alters because there are several users here using the same provider. Oh well if they ban some of them that will just make membership numbers even less. I am the only one that uses this continually anyway. The others don't have that much interest anymore

Everyone that uses a computer at work for personal chit is a bad apple , in my humble opinion!!! No wonder quality and quantity of work performed by American workers is at an all time low. I know it is not your fault but get back to work anyway!!

This happened to me a while back. A buddy was on slowest and I. At different times. Banned for the same IP address. Snowest assumes, now this probally does happen, but wake up slowest. Big D listened. Christopher don't.

Anyone who uses a router at home could have the same public IP on multiple computers so really has nothing to do with using a computer at work...

My work has proabably 300 computers and several people that get on snowest guess i better not get in trouble
