Baker Update

Was up riding Baker today... Here's rundown.

First: Drive up as high as you can... 1.5 miles of road that was covered last week - completely dirt now... Drive up until you see " Road closed to Autos" sign... from then on - no issue with dirt (today)

Snow is OK... Too foggy today - so played around in meadow @ 3200' (maybe? - didn't check GPS)...

Was hesitant at first of hitting something - but all was good... snow conditions are fair (compared to the other options around)...

Was snowing on way out... am thinking that the snow up in the 6-7k elev. is going to be pretty good - but of course, one needs to be able to see

Summary: Drive high, pretty good coverage, fogged in, better than riding the couch, freshly groomed, bit of fresh + sun = will equal some nice riding - just FYI - don't try to climb to high in the fog... plenty of open crevasses above 6k... if you can see - nothing to worry about...

Today's Baker Update

Did Baker again today... about 18" of fresh... Prettttyyy good Coverage is coming along nicely...

Untracked above about 6500' Have been to about 7k there before - thought I'd head up that high again - but with no tracks to follow must have strayed too far left (climbers left) and nearly got a bear hug from a crevasse...

Visibility was good all day today

This IS the place to ride (right now- hopefully this week is as good as predicted) - certainly in WA state and probably in all the west...
