Bad hand warmer = Bad running sled?

So I have been having some problems with my sled running crappy and my guages not working. First of all, my sled has been cutting out or miss-firing in the higher rpms. It isn't really a bog, it just doesn't run smooth. Second, my guages and my egt won't work unless my hand warmers are off. As soon as I turn the hand warmers on my guage cluster shuts off and my egt display scrambles. I went through the wiring harness and stuff and everything looks normal. Could one of the actual hand warmers be shorting out? And if so, would this make the sled run bad? What do you guys think? If so, do I replace it with a stock hand warmer or something else?
Thanks!!

get it into your dealer and get the electrical fixed . An ECU is almost $2000.00 CAN . and it WILL burn out .

Im not familar enough with the 05m7, but I think its an AC system and could be possible. Do a resistence test on the warmers with an ohm meter. AS said, this needs to be fixed, you dont want to buy an ECU

probably not your ecu that will go but your stator. still big money but efi motors are finicky on how much draw is on the stator, that is why you need a resistor if you aren't running headlights etc.

There was a thread a week or two back about how efi sleds draw directly off the stator for the ecu (I think). Not sure what that means, but the thread was saying that they can overdraw power if everything is on, causing a low or insufficient voltage problem. I will see if I can track down the thread. Basically I believe it only caused a problem if you had a weak stator. Like has been said though, get it checked out. Everything electrical is $$$$$.

Here is the link I was talking about. More specifically the quote from Big Twin. Not sure if it helps with your issue though.

TROUBLESHOOTING (EFI Models)
The APV system used on EFI models is very similar to that found on carbureted models. The self-cleaning and self-testing modes are much alike. The main difference between the two is the higher total electrical power required by the EFI and APV systems combined. Because of these more demanding power requirements, the EFI APV system gets power from the stator lighting coil. The ECU constantly monitors the power output of the lighting coil, and if the lighting coil output gets too high or too low, the ECU will activate the “limp-home” mode. The “limp-home” mode is an ECU operated engine RPM limiter. When activated, the “limp-home” mode will be seen as an immediate loss of engine horsepower.
For example, if the headlight and taillight are disabled, the ECU will sense a high voltage condition and activate the “limp-home” mode. Adding more than 4 amps of accessories will create a low voltage condition and activate the “limp-home” mode."

I don't believe the servo cycles on start up on EFI sleds though. From what I am told.

I used to use Moose warmers, they were very good and hot. My last pair I bought a set of RSI over the hooks design. I'm pretty sold on these, they get very hot and cover the bars to the end of the hooks.

I was having pretty much the same problems on my 07 M1000. Finally got the
dealership to replace the ecu and i took it out for a test run tonight. The run condition is fixed and the gauges are working but my hand warmers only work on low. I think the hand warmers are junk, gonna replace with some aftermarkets. My machine is still under warranty so the ecu only cost me $50.00 but i did find a place online that sells them for around $1000.00 Now that my sled is running good again I have a clutch problem. Around 150 miles on the belt and it shredded.

I had the same problem on an '06 M7. Guages and lights would quit and it would run like crap. Talked to the dealer and he told me to check the handwarmers. Sure enough... replaced the bad one and it was problem solved!
