bad advertising 240hp to 270hp

:face-icon-small-disI just bought a turbo nitro that was advertised at 270hp but found out it is only 240 and has never been updated. What will it cost me and where should I get it done? Should I pursue the guy I bought it from or let it go?

My sled is 240 hp at 12lbs and 270 hp (i think) at 17 lbs of boost at sea level. For my altitude it IS pump gas but at my altitude the actual HP is much lower. Can you just turn your boost up?

Can you post the ad which you purchased your sled? With boost there are many ways to "advertise" the HP.

I will assume MCX kit, most 240 kits need an external fuel pump and regulator and the map updated. About 500 bucks CAN.

2x...

Depends on which version of the mcx kit you have. You may be able to crank up the boost.

How do you know what hp you are making? Whats your altitude?

stage 1 240 hp 12 lbs at sea level and automatically increases to 15lbs at alt.

stage 2 270hp 15lbs at seal level..........................and up to 17 at alt.

Both run on pump fuel (theoretically)

Is the alleged lack of 30 hp gonna severely put a damper on your capability to have fun on the sled, I doubt it. Would you have bought it for the same price if you thought it had 240 hp, idunno. Did some turbo shop mislead you, I doubt it as they surely know that 30 alleged hp isnt a deal breaker. Could there have been some miscommunication as to the variables regarding horsepower output, for sure. If you see the guy you should buy him a Coke and just smile.

It is and mcx, I bought it from another guy not from a dealer. I sure would not have bought it for the price I paid if I would have known it was only 240. I have not seen it on a dyno but chad at cr racing built it and he told me 240 was the most I would get out of it even with the boost turned up to 17lbs on c12. If its only $500 dollars to get it done its no big deal but the people I have talked to seem to think its about 1500 plus labour about 1.5hrs. Thanks guys

This a good start but as mentioned in order for us to help you we need alot more details.

If it is a 240 kit yes it can be upgraded.

What will it costs depends on which 240 kit you have there where different versions.

With more details we can give you a better idea.

I dont see how it would be more then 500$.

240 will rip your arms off, 270 will pull slightly harder on top.

Make sure you check your header, mostly like it is cracked.

Have fun they rock!

If your kit already has the external fuel pump rather than the in tank version you should be able to reflash the box and run pump fuel at 17 pounds which will put you in the 270 range. Cost in the US is about $100.

If the pump is in the tank you will have to change a few more items, that will put you in the $500 range.

Not sure what CR is talking about. If you can turn the boost up you will gain HP.

i have the external fuel pump and tried the 270 hp map and at 12,000 ++ feet the boost was over 22 psi :face-icon-small-sho at that kind of boost the turbo is just makin heat. i changed the map to lessen the boost. to get 270 hp at that altitude you need a bigger charger.

the good thing about the external fp is you get that much more fuel in your tank!
