Are there any backyard mechanics? I have two dead Arctic Cats and would like to learn how to work on sleds. I live in the Denver metro area. I have a good garage with heat so if you are in the area and can help I will supply beer and food.

2002 600 Mtn Cat. It's been a great sled and has 3400 miles but the clutch died over Christmas after towing out two sleds. The primary / driving clutch makes a bad grinding sound when pulling to start and after stopping the engine. The primary / driving clutch also continues to freewheel for several seconds after turning off the engine. I was told it might be the spider and / or clutch to engine shaft threads.

2004 900 Mtn Cat. The engine is carburated and seized twice last year on the clutch side. After paying to have it fixed and die again I decided to buy another sled.

Will a 900 clutch work on the 600?

Does anyone want to buy either sled?

Your primary continues to spin after the motor is turned off? That is weird. One would think that the clutch is not close to being as tight as it should be. Considering that is is bolted to the crank and then torqued to at least 93 foot pounds, that thing should never just free-spin. It should stop as soon as the motor stops. I think you have bigger issues here. You may want to pull the motor and check everything out. And at 3500 miles, not a bad idea anyways.

I would help you come summer time...my free time during the winter is spent sledding:face-icon-small-hap

I don't mind working on sleds when there is food and beer involved...just not during the winter if I can help it!

Agreed. Weekends should be spent having fun outside. Hopefully I can find the time and motivation during the week after work.

Get Tracks to help you. At his size, half a beer and a kids meal at Wendys will tie him over for a week. :face-icon-small-coo He's a good peep.

Thanks for the offers to help. Next time I will know who to buy beers and Happy Meals for.

I sold my 600 and 900 Cats last night. They were good sleds and I am going to miss them.
