Backwoods BMP denting Boost pipe

IMG_6553.jpegI installed a backwoods front bumper on my ‘24 boost and have about 4 rides on it. I was doing some work on the sled and noticed when I moved the pipe (springs were removed) that the bumper was making two dents in the pipe. Anyone else seen this before? Definitely not stoked to have it running like this

Look at HPS they make a piece that pushes the pipe forward and stops the rubbing. You do have to mod it to make it work with an aftermarket bumper. I also purchased a higher rubber button for the head pipe. I can post the part number. It’s from an older model sled. This even happens with a stock bumper. They need to do something about it. You can also add 2 washer under the pipe bumper rubber it does help.

That is just the insulated cover on the pipe. Just let it happen it will not hurt anything. I have 4 different boost with the backwoods bumpers that all look like that with 2k+ miles each and all is well.

Yeah mine looks like that as well. Ive tried loosening the brackets between the turbo and the can, and the wastegate and the can, to position the pipe "up" as much as possible. I also put very thin foam tape wrapped with heat tape on the bumper when I installed it. it still vibrates hard against that effing thing. Nice having the protection but the rubbing is obnoxious. Don't know that I would do it again.

That HPS bracket is pretty cheap. I'll give that a shot

As other have said you can add washers to the rubber bumper on the bottom of the pipe and it helps. The other thing you should do is take a rubber mallet and gently flatten out that section of the pipe shield to give it more clearance. It won't hurt anything as that is just a heat shield. Don't beat on it though. I had to do this on my 850 NA as well and it was really the best (only) way to ensure the pipe didn't rub. I just put a backwoods bumper in my 25 boost and it just barely clears so rubber mallet and extra clearance washers it is again...
