Back 2 The Moon.

The change has come......no, we will not go to the moon, unless a private entity decides to go, then the Obama Government will take over the project as a good for the socialism of our planet.

I'm all for space exploration and going to the moon and beyond. But, with the current economic situation, I don't think it would be advisable. When we poke our heads out of the hole we dug, we can look into spending money on space exploration again. But for now, I think we need to spend that money researching fuels, and other beneficial scientific ventures.

Think what space exploration does to our planet. How many gallons of rocket fuel spew out everytime they launch one of those? Oh wait, snowmobiles are propably far worse than that

I just love it when they light that candle on the shuttle. Gives me chills every time I see it. And that's just on TV. We took the tour of Cape Canaveral last summer. The best tour one can take for the space junkie.

are you serious?

Go ahead and google "US budget FY2009" and do the research and tell me what percentage of the budget NASA gets...then tell me how that TINY amount of money is even a drop in the dam bucket of this countries money issues. Less than one-half of one-percent of the budget...ya, NASA is the problem...

and on:

WHAT DO YOU THINK NASA DOES? "Beneficial scientific ventures"????!!! THEY ARE THE BENEFICIAL SCIENTIFIC VENTURE! You wouldn't have half the crap you have today if it weren't for NASA and for space exploration.

Finally, I'm going to space someday...and I plan on walking on at least the moon, if not Mars...they dam well better not cancel those plans.

the 60s

If there ever was an upside down time in our country it was the 60s when our defense and space industry put our guys on the moon. Not sure you could do it today. We don't have the industry we once did and we sure as hell don't have the political willpower.

Being born in 61 I got to see all this as a kid. I knew all the astronauts names, the vehicles and what they were designed to do. I thought for sure that I would get to visit the moon someday but Congress canceled the last few moon landings and that was it as far as our exploration of the moon and the technology that took us there. Why the shortsightedness? Over the years we've grown accustomed to our politicians screwing things up and the cancellation of Apollo and the go-ahead for the most watered down version of the space shuttle are all perfect examples of why we should not allow our politicians too much power to set space research and exploration policy. If we go back..we stay. And if we stay, we continue to Mars and beyond.

Our exploration policy people should be comprised of business and scientific leaders. Most importantly keep the politicians out of it. A decent budget for NASA isn't going to break the bank and we would all benefit from the technology, the jobs and we'll need engineers instead of lawyers. I'm pretty sure that Obama will only pay it lip service though.

Who are you kidding?

Space exploration give us:

The ability to know if it is going to dump, so we know when we will have a good riding day.

The ability to use the SPOT GPS tracker when you get lost and cannot get home.

Military uses are practically infinite.

As I mentioned before weather, it is pretty infinite.

Not to mention all the scientific research, thermal shielding, etc, etc, etc

MHA forget all that crap.....

SPACE gave us TANG the best damn drink ever, well next to beer.

Man I love TANG. Oh and pens that write up side down, but really it would be worth it all if we got the next Tang!!!!
