Axys. Vs pro

I love mine

I never had a dragon so I can't make that comparison to a pro. But what I do know is this axys is hands down a better sled than all 3 of the pros I had. I rode a t3 163 last year and it felt like it had a ton more power than the pro. This year after being on my 163x3 axys I jumped on a 163x3 t3. The t3 felt like it had 20hp less than the axys. U will not be disappointed with the axys

It must not be properly set up because the 16 pro 163 2.6" was a game changer for me! It is just sick what it will do, especially when you get it set up right! I put a 36" front end on it, 8 tooth drivers, tki 2.42 gearing, my own custom pipe mod with mbrp trail can! It pulls extremely hard and there is no way that a piped pro will touch it :) It definitely upped the game and my confidence level!

i would also bet hes not setup/clutched right or something. my 2 sleds (15 pro and 16 pro) are NIGHT and day different. It might not be difference between dragon/pro but it is very noticeable...so if you guys can't tell the difference....somethings up.

i also rode a pretty well setup freeride 154x3" timbersled skid'd sled to compare this week and motor on the axys felt better in all aspects. that freeride felt pretty good too.

I have no idea what it has for set up, but obviously it must not be right because it does not perform like everyone describes. Don't get me wrong, it does the job and gets everywhere the rest of us do it just doesn't seem to have anything special over any of the rest of the sleds in the group.

As to the whole "feel" of more power that don't mean much to me. my cat "feels" like it has a ton more power than the '15 pro I mentioned in my other post but like I said once the hammer drops, they're pretty dang even

I know it's taboo in the sled world (where everyone is an expert level rider) to insinuate that there are differences between rider ability, riding style, fitness, confidence, etc....but that stuff IS a factor in all other sports and activities....so just for argements sake...lets pretend it may be a factor here as well.

IMO the mountain sleds are to the point now...where a new, newish, non-aggressive, or simply not-that-good rider may not appreciate the changes and advances. I'm not sure they will know what differences they are looking for, as the main issues are operator related...not sled.

It's like me on an MX bike vs Ryan Dungey...do the differences on a 2015 MX bike vs 2016 affect my ability to challenge his lap times? Nope.

The axys in our group must be a dud, I keep hearing how awesome they are and how much more power they have over the pro but it has not shown.... but as far as power goes it doesn't feel like it really has anything over the '15 td pro in our group.....The '15 pro and my '14 cat are pretty evenly matched and will both stomp the axys in power contests, i.e. racing both on flat and up hill.....

I think something is up. I'm riding a '15 cat with a SLP Stage II kit, (with '16 cat front end) and I still have my '14 the kids ride. My bros 163 2.6 Axys and the modified cat are very close everywhere...climbing, drag racing in powder up hill etc. Both walk away from the '14 cat. Note the power to weight of the modified cat and axys are very close. IMO, the handling and power difference on the Axys v.s. the Pro is significant...pretty much everything I didn't like about the pro is fixed (a bit planted, wide, and tends to dive in the front at times) but still just the next evolution of a very similar chassis. Very similar to the improvement Cat did with the '16...a big deal. The litmus test for me is would I want to ride an older model year given the seat time on the either of the new models? Only if I had to.

Yes rider ability is a big part of it, and no the guy on the axys in my group is not the best rider. That's why I only brought up the "power" comparison, any one can mash the flipper to the bar in a drag race. I could have also mentioned the fact the axys gets stuck more than anyone else in the group, but I'm not to dumb to know that that is on the rider and not the sled.

Yes, Anybody can mash the flipper but was ever even set up properly? We are talking about a highly tuned machine here. What rpm is he peaking at? Has he cleaned the clutches since he bought it? What kind of condition is the belt in? If you are not looking at those things regularly performance is going to suffer. I can tell when mine needs a little love and it always rewards me for it.

Not trying to brag at all, but in my riding group the Axys is stuck the least by a big margin. It hole shots the modded M1000 by a football field until that beast gets wound up and comes on by.

Sounds like your buddies sled just needs a little maintenance...

definately needs something, cuz it sounds like it should be much more impressive. even the guys son on the '15 pro said he's not impressed and would stick with his pro. like i said i have no idea how its set up or if its tacking, i rode it for maybe 5-10 minutes when he first got it and thats about it. sad part is both the father and son on the axys and pro are the extreme brand loyal type making me on my cat the "enemy" so even if i got some advice from you guys that have experience with that sled they would never take my word for it.

maybe he needs to convince his dealer to have a look at it, i know he was on the verge of taking it back yesterday cuz it took a half hour to get it running in the morning. somehow it flooded out like a mofo when he pulled it out of the trailer, plugs were soaked when we pulled them after checking all the electrical connections for water and whatnot. ran fine after new plugs and getting it cleaned out.

My buddies wife was going to stuff her 15 pro 163, with 36 inch front end, in the trees so I pulled up and gave her my axys and said I would handle it. Her sled still felt like a boat anchor, with the 36 front end, compared to an axys.

I'm one of the gas and go crowd so for me my dealer is absolutely critical. I rode with a friend yesterday who had a brand new (0 miles) 2016 Cat Sno Pro. The belt was so loose it wouldn't even hardly turn the track. I think I could have removed the thing without even opening the secondary. Was that Cat's fault? Hell no, that was a dealer setup issue IMO!(I can't believe the dealer let it go out the door that way) You would think they'd check the belt tension.
I'd say the guy got a bad dealer ....
