Just curious, is there really much difference in the handling and power between the two. I have an 13 pro 800 163 with a tki belt drive geared to 2.42 , A SLP can and a reflashed Ecu. From silber. Raptor shocks all around. Tied them secondary, with Indy Dan balanced and his clutch kit. Was think of selling it or trading it in on a 17 Axys next season. Any worthwhile comments would be appreciated. My sled has around 1500--1600 miles on it. Thanks

I looked at it this way....the pro will still go places i cant take it....i had a 12 pro...night and day difference between that and my 15...i dont like buying things in there first few years of development...i needed a new sled so i bought my 12 i was on a 600 so thats why i pulled that trigger. I will be looking to buy a 19 most likely, Especially that the market has seemed flooded with pros with everyone wanting the new Axys, If Money wasn't a problem either i would have a 17.

To me, to say its night and day difference is exaggerating but its enough that its worth some money, you have to decide how much. The Axys is more responsive and gets up on the snow better but the weight transfer makes it tricky in steep technical terrain. The Axys balances much better than the Pro, flip it up on one ski on the road or on a steep slope and it has a huge sweet spot and it is less work keeping it right where you want it. It rolls up easier especially in low snow.
I wouldn't dump a bunch of money selling my Pro this time of year but upgrading makes sense when the time is right.

I have a 12 pro with an avid drop and roll case and a 3 inch track. I have rode it what way 4 seasons and loved it. This fall I bought a 400 mile 15 pro with starting line stage 3 and a 3 inch track. Also a great sled, but was expecting more. Took it back to the dealer for some tuning and ended up trading it in for an Axys 163 2.6 sled they put a 3 inch Polaris track on.
It is brand new. Rode it 4 times now. First ride was a little learning curve, but now I love it. Pro is a great sled, Axys is better.

i have both. to me there isn't even a comparison. the axys is that much better. my son rode my axys this weekend for first time while out at tog and he was pissed after i made him get off it. (he has my old pro).

There's no comparison between the two. The axys is better at everything. The pro feels like an old boat now.
My thoughts as well. I had/have lots of fun on pros and they're still more sled than I am rider, but the Axys just makes them feel old. When someone says they didn't notice much of a difference...I just don't get it:boink:

I have a 12 Pro with 36" a arms, promotion skid, SLP Stage 3 and a Axys....they handle similar just ones modded the other is stock. Rode my buddys stock 13 the other day and old boat is a good description.

Eh...

I agree. People talk like the difference is huge - as if they were upgrading from a Dragon to a Pro. It's just not that big of a jump.

Well having a edge, dragon, 2 pros (11+14) and now a axys its been a pretty good progression from sled to sled. There were much bigger jumps from edge to dragon and from dragon to pro (biggest imho) than there are from pro to axys, however as with most things the better they get the less drastic the advances become. That being said if you took a pro and did 3-4k in mods you would get way closer to a stock axys, but still not really as refined a package. It kind of like you can pretty much go anywhere or do anything on a pro, however a axys will do it easier for you in some cases, if that makes sence. ie on a edge you would be going " no way im going down there through those trees ect" and on a pro you would probably give it a shot, whereas on the pro to axys jump that decision would not come up as either sled would make it depending on your skill set. I do think the better rider (my riding buddy) you are the more you would notice the changes in the sleds, more so than a intermediate rider (me)

I find BIG differences in the following areas...

Power, the Axys has MUCH better low end snap and pulls harder everywhere. Best powerplant on the snow IMO and I have ridden the Cats and Doos as well as the old Pro.

Balance, the Axys has a much larger sweet spot and is able to change direction much more quickly than the Pro. I could pick sick tree lines on the Pro, the Axys can take lines the Pro can not follow.

Quality, Much better fit and finish, though they do still come with a lot of sharp edges LOL. Better panel fit and ease of access.

Getting on the snow, I have never seen a sled so easy to un stick. My old Pro would never had broken trail for my buddies old M1000 mod but the Axys did. I love the transfer and instantaneous lift. It works, better than the old Pro by a mile.

Switching back and forth with my buddies '13 Pro with a Mtn Tek kit, head and a can the Axys is noticeable more responsive and easier to handle.

I think of you can't tell much difference, you aren't riding it hard enough. The Pro is just plain boring compared to the Axys.

I had a pro with lots of mods and I loved the sled.
Ive ridden a friends modded as far as you can go pro with carbon and Ti and 900 bb. It weights 25#+ less than my new axys with a ti can.

My opinion is the first couple times you ride the axys it is a learning curve you need to spend two plus days on it to appreciate it. It is not just the weight that makes a difference because my friends is much lighter. Polaris changed so many little things that all work together. If you like to ride technical tight tree and steep areas, after you ride the axys for a day or two you will appreciate how much faster this sled reacts to where you want to go (its amazing) How much tighter you can turn, how much less energy it takes to do everything, how big the sweet spot for sidehilling with next to zero effert, how much faster you can rip through the trees because it goes where you want when you want as fast as your brain can think it.
on a dead stop drag race in powder the axys easily jumps out forward and ahead of a lighter pro with same track and more motor. The axys goes forward and up the pro seems to trench first than take off forward.
After riding axys all year and I switch to ride a pro it feels comfortable and a little like home but truly the effort it takes to ride it and how slow it reacts and how it does not turn nearly as tight is a huge difference!
Again I think you need to ride a axys for a few days to appreciate it. a 10 minute ride wont do you justice to appreciate the changes/improvements.
I would not hesitate 1 minute to trade out and get a axys.
Is it as big as Dragon to Pro? Maybe or Maybe not I think that depends on the type of riding you like to do. Open meadow / Bowl riding, no. Steep sidehills up and down, tree areas or anything off camber the axys is a huge jump forward.
Did I mention the motor also Rips!

Even if it did everything quantifiably the same (which it doesn't - it's better in all areas I care about)....the increased fun factor alone is worth it.

I agree you need to ride it a couple times to fully appreciate it. Also the more aggressive the rider - the more you apparent the difference.

The axys in our group must be a dud, I keep hearing how awesome they are and how much more power they have over the pro but it has not shown. I won't comment on handling as I've rode cat the last ten years and only have about 15 minutes on both the pro and the axys and to me they feel similar, but as far as power goes it doesn't feel like it really has anything over the '15 td pro in our group. The '15 pro and my '14 cat are pretty evenly matched and will both stomp the axys in power contests, i.e. racing both on flat and up hill. I have no idea if it's tacking right, the guy that rides it is the "I just put gas in it and go" type. How long does the break in period go for? He should be pushing 400 miles.

I'm not trying to bash, I just haven't seen this axys resemble the bad a$$ sled everyone always describes. I will say I'm pretty impressed with the '15 pro in our group though, the guy who rides it weighs, no joke, 450lbs and that pro packs his big but around the back country pretty damn good.

It must not be properly set up because the 16 pro 163 2.6" was a game changer for me! It is just sick what it will do, especially when you get it set up right! I put a 36" front end on it, 8 tooth drivers, tki 2.42 gearing, my own custom pipe mod with mbrp trail can! It pulls extremely hard and there is no way that a piped pro will touch it :) It definitely upped the game and my confidence level!

i would also bet hes not setup/clutched right or something. my 2 sleds (15 pro and 16 pro) are NIGHT and day different. It might not be difference between dragon/pro but it is very noticeable...so if you guys can't tell the difference....somethings up.

i also rode a pretty well setup freeride 154x3" timbersled skid'd sled to compare this week and motor on the axys felt better in all aspects. that freeride felt pretty good too.
