Axys hand warmers not working...

First thing to check is to make sure the wiring to the switch is not unhooked or loose. Eric

+1. One of the many things I did when I brought the sled home was take the plugs off and add additional dielectric grease. Had similar problem on my pro and the grease helped out quite a bit.

Also agree you should call your dealer. That is something nobody should have to worry about with a brand new sled.

My Doo was the same way. Pretty annoying. If it's a cold day my hands tends to get cold when first taking off. I liked the Pro having warm grips by the time the engine was warm enough to take off.

When it's 10 degrees out and your hands are already cold from getting ready and the sled is warming up; it's nice having warm hand warmers!

I have owned three RMK's and I've learned that the handle bar heaters simply do not adequately heat the grips when riding with medium insulated gloves and riding the trails at 30 + mph getting to our off trail riding areas in the mts. MY SOLUTION FOR THIS IS: 1. Remove the grips using low pressure air (10 to 15 #) to help remove and preserve the factory grips. 2. Then carefully pealing off the heater elements. 3. Then wrapping 1 / 16 inch thick gasket material with sticky backing on the bare aluminum bar area where the grips were ( buy from NAPA ) 4. Replace the heaters. 5. Put some weatherstrip adhesive ( from NAPA) inside the lip of the grip and some on the heaters so the grips can be slipped back on easier and do not slip around.
I've been suggesting to POLARIS for years that they need to improve the handle bar heaters and the AXYS appears to be the same as the 2012 _ 2015 RMKs. A 2 level selection that does not work well for the people I ride with on RMK's. An poor performing feature that seems to elude Polaris engineers. What do they expect mt. riders to do wear thick mittens? After all there's no windshield to protect our hands so the only thing we have is the grip heaters to keep our hands warm. Da

My partner got the adhesive from Hedahls auto supply I believe. It comes in a tube. Sorry I do not have the precise name of it just now as I write but I'll have it soon and I'll update this so you can get the job done right.

Did this on my pro start of last season - night and day difference!

The manual actually says that they won't work at idle. Load shedding relay will keep them off, especially when using high beam light.

I have been sledding for 5 days in the mountains now and they don't work at all. Also, my high beems are not working either. Pretty disappointing. Sounds like a problem with the load shedding relay like you mentioned. Gonna take it to my dealer this week. Other than that the sled performed amazing.

There has been issues with capacitors last year. Handwarmers and high beam are on same capacitor. Happened to mine.

Also for those that want handwarmers to work at idle, after starting sled revving it over 2500 rpm will turn on relay and will stay on at idle unless it drops below 1400 rpm or voltage drops to low.
Sled will shut down after temps are up or throttle hasn't moved for 5 min.

My warmers work on my new Pro also.
Started sled with lots of frozen snow on the grips and in a very short time the snow was gone and the engine temp had only reached 45 degrees .
Went for a 25 mile break in ride and only had the temp setting on low.
Had to turn the switch to the off position for a while as my hands where to HOT.
That did not happen very often on my last 3 Pros :)

Also FYI, the AXYS hand warmers are different than pro warmers. They have longer leads and different loom. Also the biggest difference I noticed is that on the sticky side of the warmer, they added some thin foam I am guessing for insulation and also to make the grips be tighter so they don't get loose like the pros do sometimes.

I put these under my grips. Huge difference.

Greg,

What were you able to determine was the cause of this issue? My AXYS just started exhibiting the same symptoms.
