Axys belt life/rpm fade issues?

My plugs look perfect, motor wouldn't spin faster than 7950 at 7,000 ' today. Will low fuel pressure cause this type of condition and how do you test fuel pressure?

I had the same 7950 max rpm issue.

Running 6-8000'. 163" 3" went back to stock helix and magnum force weights to eliminate variables. Put a rebuilt P-85 in it. I could add or subtract 3.6grams per arm and peak rpm would remain the same. The "pull" down low was significantly stronger with more weight but the motor only pulled 7950. Reduced weight and no improvement.

My motor mounts -specifically the rubber isolators- were sacked out. The torque arm rubber isolator was also hammered. I believe the motor was shifting back enough to significantly reduce center to center distance.

Replaced all five rubber isolators, and at the same time found the 4 wire plug coming out of stator 2 yellow, 2 black was melted. Allowing DC chassis and DC engine circuits to come in contact with each other. Fixed that issue at same time.

Had to readjust clutch offset after replacing isolators. Motor now pulling 8250-8300 rpm.

I will start replacing all five rubber components at 1,000 mile intervals (typically two sets a season) from now on.

So I see everyone always raving over how great the POO's do on belts and how well the clutching works. Mine suck hard, whats up.

What gives, I cannot seem to get more then 2-300 miles before pulling threads to the point of near explosion or delaminating pieces of them (gates Carbon).

I have 2 sleds now, 16 and 17 both are 155 2.6 QD's I also get pretty bad RPM fad, seems even worse on my 17 compared to my 16. Start a pull at 8100 if everything is all nice and cool and if I go for a longer pull ( 10+ seconds of WOT) I keep losing rpm and often land around 7500. My 2017 only has 580 miles on it and its really bad.

Both sleds never get more then 500 miles on clutch springs before I change them, sheaves get cleaned every 2-3 rides. clutches blown out between every ride.

When I do fresh belt and springs everything seems to work 'better' but still fades fairly bad. when things start to have 100+ miles on them its back to the same old garbage.

What weights and what rate of primary spring do you have??

Murph, thanks for the info!

I am heading to pick my sled up from the dealer today. Apparently "nothing was wrong" Putting a new belt on it and all brand new clutch springs and putting it 100% back to stock to do a test run tonight so I can let them know if its working correctly or not.

Hammered motor mounting system would make sense. If the motor can move around more then it should it is basically going to act like a super worn belt, as well as create increased slippage and increase fade due to heat soak. This just is wild to think my 2017 would already be getting this bad at 600 miles. My 2016 with 1400 miles I could easily see why this would explain the 2-300 rpm I just cant seem to find. Altho that sled is very consistant in its low RPM.

650 miles on this mount and it looks shot to me.

Low rpm

Definitely you need to have offset checked doesn't come from factory correct, that's a dealer setup detail! Also the axys doesn't come with the best helix, Carls cycle has the clutching figured out better than anyone, 208-853-5550 give them a call. A bad motor mount could be the problem, changing springs every 300 miles is non productive. If you have aSLP pipe which by the way are awesome! Best bang for your buck! But the Carls clutching works better with it also! Carls also have a bearing for secondary thats like $25 and helps a ton.then put SLP engine torque stop on definitely Dielectric grease also on connections could be of a big help to your problem.one last thing gearing down is wrong, will make belt last longer but hurts the traction so doesn't climb as good, I see a lot of people buy in to that but you get to much torque multiplication!!

Alright, so got the sled back from dealer, new primary spring and fresh OEM belt. everything else 'checked out'

Sled absolutely railed up in BC but then again, they always feel amazing since I was at lower elevation. I will be back to my normal riding zones this week to check it out.

I think one of the problems I was having is the gates belts just do not seem to 'stick' as well to the clutches they seem to glaze and create a lot more slip/fade then the OEM pol belts.
