Axys A-arms

I am going to buy a backup set of a-arms for the sled. I am not going 36" and have decided to go either stock or zbros. I see a lot of stock ones for sale and wondering if that is because people are goin 36 or if people are ditching the stock arms.

IMO...Put the aftermarket on there... and have yours in the trailer for backup.

For a stock width that you want...

Go with the Z-Broz or the Alt impact...

Whatever you go with... make sure the backups have their OWN ball joints already mounted if you intend to be able to switch them out in the trailer on the mountain.

What is your opinion based on?

My opinion.

Members sharing their experiences in PM's/Emails... with the stock arms this season so far. If you need to swap out the ball joints, it's not so easy to do on the hill or in the trailer.

Also... based on the excellent quality of the Z-Broz and AI units.

I went with Alt Impact for the ball joint reason alone. I can carry a stock arm with me if i go out of town and swap it out if i take out an alt impact one. I also like the design of the alt impact, the joint should break before the arm bends and you can swap out a joint on the mountain, they're also only 18 bucks as compared to a couple hundred for an arm

A vote for KMOD A-Arms. Great product, great company owner. I have the KMOD 37" A-Arms which you can run at 38", 37" or 36" by moving your skis on the spindles. I am currently running mine at 38". This is well made product and comes with the hardware mounted.

I can vouch for their toughness too. I hit a very solid metal object on my first day out. I rode the rest of the day thinking that there was no damage. I guarantee you that the stock lower A-Arm would have been destroyed by the impact. Upon further investigation, I noticed that I had dented and slightly bent the left lower arm (front and back). However, it is still operational. I have put 8 hours riding time on the sled with the damaged A-Arm while waiting for the replacement lower arm. I suspect that I could ride it all season. This is one tough product! Thanks KMOD!

Haven't been on for quite a while but anytime I see an opportunity to plug the Alt impact arms you know I will. A couple weeks ago I was looking for replacement arms for my wife's axys. I was really reluctant to go with anything other than the stock ski stance until I called Dan. He was willing to send me a set of 36 inch demo arms. I honestly didn't think either one of us would like them because that sled handle so well with the 39 inch but I ended up purchasing a set of 36 inch. Whether you go with 36 or 39 inch I would definitely go with those arms for several reasons. The replaceable joint between the arm and the spindle is one. The other is the kit comes with absolutely everything needed no pressing out anything. To have sheer point on an A arm to me is worth its weight in gold. Neither zbroz or kmod has that. The Kmod seems like an OK set up besides no sheer point they are from what I can tell about $150 more than Alt arms with the same amount of hardware. Dans arms also have the high tech material he started using this year. Haven't really heard anything good or bad about it but it's another bonus to me.judged I would not hesitate to go with Dan's front end either width. Not sure I have read a single thing negative about them and if you do search plenty of good write ups about them for the axys. I installed them in about an hour fit and finish was very good even with help lol

I have not seen any posts with the stock axys arms being weak, so that is why I am asking. Can you share?

I will check out PES and KMOD tonight, but still wonder why not just grab a stock take off set.

There is a carnage thread. I have bent three lower arms. The impacts should not have bent the arms IMO. I did get Polaris to replace one though they made sure to claim it was goodwill not an admission the arms are too weak.

One excuse I had from Polaris was they are designed to fail before damaging the tunnel or bulkhead. Pretty sure the Assault uses stronger arms and the same tunnel/bulkhead.

Take a look at the relief in the rear part of the lower arm near the bulkhead mount. They fail right there, bending down as the ski comes in.

Admittedly I have a bunch of successful good snow rides now with no damage. I ride more conscious of the weak arms but they have done fine in good snow. Honestly though, neither one of my hits should have bent an arm, it was pathetic. I will be running the Alt Imp kit soon.

I ordered a Kmod set for my sled last week. Will install later this week, going to island park next week (bringing the stockers for backups) and I plan on selling the stock a arms with all hardware as a set once I return around the 10th. 50 miles of MN trail riding on them from breaking the sled in.

Pm me if interested.

I most likely wont go kmod because if I bend an a-arm I will need to do all the a-arms. zbros and stock I can just swap. Pretty good chance I will be in a cold trailer. Read up on the kmod and it looks like a good idea.

I dont usually bend a-arms, but my pro arms came unglued a week before a big ride. I am in Maine, so it is not an item dealers stock. Nice to have another set around.

I saw first hand an AI a arm bend with the joint still intact on an axys.

Obviously nothing is guaranteed and Dan says that. But the chance of the joint breaking is greater then the arm bending. I bent two factory arms in 2 days and also broke a spindle. After that i was done. I like that i don't have to press any joint with the alt impact too.
