"AxMen" on History Channel

Anyone else following this show? I've been watching it since it came on-a little too much on the personal conflict side, like so much of the "reality" tv crap, but not bad. It's been an interesting look at a loggers life, and how da*m hard they work. Best of all, it's gotta have some of the greenie's panties in a bunch.

I never realized they cut so much trash wood. Everything their moving is small stuff. I guess private property is the only place left to cut lumber. I looked it up once, in Oregon, they cut a grand total of 400 acres of clearcut on National Forest one year. Everything is cut on private property in that state.

Nope, at least not that they showed. That crew was on a 2-week layoff.

They brought out the feller buncher this week...had a widow maker drop out of a big Fir (I thinK), it speared the roof...bet those shorts were soiled! They happened to catch that on film, kinda cool.

It's as bad here in Idaho, something like 70% of the land is federal, yet only 10% of the timber cut in the state comes off forest service land. The forests are paying for it...way overgrown and diseased. Effin tree huggers sue to block every timber sale.

I saw that last night and was laughing going "Wow I bet the enviro nazis LOVE this one "

Watching it right now. I love this show. My Grandfather was a logger, my Dad was a logger, and my brother was a logger. I chose to take a different path- but I love the show for sure!

I like the show. The job looks like a ton of fun if you ask me. If they made more money I would look into doing it.

Just like most other jobs that you don't do, it's fun for about an hour...after that it's ball-busting work.

Worked with the ex-g/f's dad for ONE DAY falling trees just to fall them...no bucking, no limbing, etc. I was 21 years old, working 70+ hour weeks on the farm at the time and thought I was in good shape...that 48 year old man showed me what work was all about.

For me I am stuck in a damn office all day. I get antsy sitting here. People think I have ADD or something. NO I just can't stand sitting all day it is boring. Glad next month I will be starting my new job and getting back out in the field.

Crab fishing in the bearing HELL NO! chopping down trees and being in the woods all day HELL YES!

Just remember Mach that loggers work when it's rainy, and when it's snowy and when it's 98 in August and when it's 20 below in January(can you imagine swapping filters on a skidder that fummed up when it's -20? All that fuel comes shooting over your hands and it's about -20 too!). At least MN loggers do...And

It's ok, I watch it or DVR it and do actually watch the whole show. I have thought about the Greenies side of it as they keep showing those 150' trees topple like dominoes. It's pretty cool how a logger can run a saw so well while most of us sit and struggle with it. They make it look way to easy.

They need to upgrade some of that equipment though!

-20 degrees? Try -40. We were workin in -30 this winter trying to log. It got colder, but those days we took off. Takes all day to get equipment started in that. I love being in the woods all summer, but I mostly run equipment, don't do any falling. So far. :D And it really is similar, things break everyday, lots of cussing, you spend way too much time working on equipment and fixing stuff. Things get stolen, tree huggers get upset, and the forest service are morons.
