RIP to the fallen...our comforts and thoughts to the survivors

My thoughts & prayers to surviving family & friends.

Why do these threads always turn into a pissing match of difference of philosophies?

Why not use these to express condolence & regrets.

Keep these comforting to read for friends & family of our fallen fellow riders.

Why not start a separate thread if you want to banter back & forth about what we could all do better?

You can sit and debate back and forth, bottom line is that someone did not make it home from doing something we all love. I don’t know about anyone else, but every time I read about someone not coming home from the mountains, it serves as a reminder that back country riding is dangerous. Keep these fellow riders in your thoughts, the families left behind in your prayers and just ride safe.

Thanks for the posts and thoughts on avalanche skills. I've been off Snowest for a few years as I had been living in Arizona. I recently moved to Colorado and was researching avalanche training when I came across this thread again. I had seen it back in 2011, but didn't post.

Bruce was a great man and he was an awesome uncle. I loved talking snowmobiles and emailing sledding pictures with him. He is missed greatly. One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't make it up to Montana to ride with him. I had put it off a year, a year too late..

I still remember the night I got the call from my sister telling me what happened, I couldn't believe it and I still don't.

Before this, I honestly didn't think of avalanches as an issue (granted I was in the MI or AZ, but my thoughts/plans of snowmobiling out west never included avalanches). I'm currently signed up for a couple Avy classes due to my new location. I sure as heck don't want my family to get another phone call..
