Avalanche Resources

has anyone found a good list of avalanche resources out there.... centers, etc? I have seen www.avalanche.org and I have read a bunch of books, but I just wanted to see where others are getting their info from?

I have been backcountry skiing for a while, but am sort of new to the sledding side of backcountry travel.

Avy Info

I'm new to avalanche safety. Here are some things that I have found helpful:

See the stickies at the top of this forum. In fact, read everything in this forum. There are lots of knowledgeable folks w/ training and experience here. Also, check Catwoman's signature line. And, if you haven't read "Staying Alive" and "Snow Sense" I recommend them. The on-line course from USU in my signature is good too.

Don't see any info on where you live (the west is a big place). So for classroom and field sessions contact some providers in your area and ask if they do snowmobile specific training. And, if you haven't subscribed to your local avy forecast, do that.

And congrats to you for having the good sense to seek this info. I hope you'll encourage those you ride with to do the same.
