That’s cause they are freedom markings lol. You could just learn the metric system real fast? Or maybe take a paint pen and do some markers for yourself? I didn’t actually look at it I just googled it and laughed cause it’s freedom markings . Merika! When I lived abroad I’d allways ask my friends ,”how hot is that?” And they’d say ,”it’s 15!” Or whatever temperature it was and finally one day I said man it’s hot it feels like it’s 20 out here. Lol! Maybe there’s a Bca version that’s in sae?

I honestly find it curious that I can't find a probe clearly marked in INCHES & FEET.

When I comment in the weekly videos on Snow Depth, the #1 question that comes back to me is HOW DEEP IS IT IN INCHES.
What the heck is 42 Centimeters??

Metric Measurements mean NOTHING to most Americans.

^^ fixed it for you.

It's because most all the avalanche rescue technology and development is coming from metric countries.

And all real humans care about is freedom units. 😂

Centimeters divided by 2.54 equals inches. 42 cm is about 16.5 inches. Not too bad of a number to estimate with mental math. Used to have to convert back and forth constantly in college

Each 30 cm’s is roughly a foot. So if you can count by 30’s you are golden…! 😺 Close enough for avalanche purposes. I think most beacons read in meters, don’t they? If so, what is the relevance?

Oh and Merry Christmas everyone!

So, my issue is giving the reading live in the video and NOT wanting to go back and correct it in Post Editing.
I just want a Snow Probe that reads in IMPERIAL
Is that asking sooo much?

Not to get off track on this fun-fest, but I would think in an actual avalanche burial situation you would want all probes to measure in the same system. I don't care if you know how deep 2.2M is, when you pull the probe out you realize you better start digging.

Totally agreed. Kind of what I was getting at earlier. It is part of the procedure. Beacon says 2.2 metres, probe is 2-ish metres. Leave it in place and start digging.

no argument
This is strictly something for my weekly videos.
