Johnny started a small slide today. About 1 to 1.5 feet deep and 30 feet wide. Only went 20-30 feet. It was one big slab of snow sliding down the hill. Really wasnt that steep of a hill either. Just a little bit wind loaded.

Just wanted to post our experience since the avalanche center is only going about once a week now. Please be carefull out there and keep us all posted of the things you see or experience!

No pics (didnt have a camera with me). It was north skyline just west of the snotel station.

The slide surprised me, I done seen the snow crack right in front of me, right in line with my sidehill climb, and then the slab on the move. Very thankful it was just the new layer of snow that broke loose!

Peace Out,

Johnny

wow that's a pretty interesting spot to slide. I only go that way a few times a year but it doens't seem that steep over there. Crazy.

1' - 1.5' of fresh is a pretty good cache out of this last storm. I'll bet you guys were loving life.

I had something wierd happen to me with this new snow. I was riding the top of a crest. There was some deep drifting. I stopped to get dad unstuck, and when I took off, the slab pushed out in front of me and I pushed a slab that was about 3' around, and 8-10" deep, for about 8 feet or so.

I had never seen anything exactly like that before. It was kind of crazy.
