Avalanche course- East of the Cascades?

Speaking of Avy classes....I think it'd be nice to see something put together on this side of the mountains for those of us over here :D
Are there enough people East that would be interested? I'm sure I know a couple here in the 3-C's and Yakima area that might be persuaded:)

Wish, we are working on getting some information for you. Just know you'd need 30 people to make it work... :beer;

Go to your local search and rescue group and check what they have. Kittitas has the leading SAR winter group and all members are avalanche trained and some are trainers themselves. By joining your local SAR group you get free training and lots of on mountain experiance that just a class will never teach you.
Many times it is not about what you learn but how you conduct yourself and a rescue operation in the heat of the battle.

Bill - Can the old and crippled join SAR? I had thought about it. I can't hike 10 miles in the summer to rescue some city dweller, but I could ride in a tow out a sled, search on a dirt bike or whatever. Something I had considered.

We welcome all riders at all levels, we will make operational choices depending on the situation.

First avy class training is wed the 4th at cle elum high school at 6 PM. you must also do the SAR academy which also starts the following week in Eburg.
