Training for Snowmobilers
"Helpful for Other Winter Backcountry Users Too" - Chris McNeil
Avalanches come in many shapes and sizes and have injured or killed
a growing number of backcountry users over the past decade. Learning
to recognize certain topographic features and snow and weather conditions
that indicate dangerous sliding potential of snow causing serious
avalanche conditions can be key to enjoying winter backcountry sports
safely. Although this training is oriented towards snowmobiler recreationalists,
basic principles can be applied for other winter backcountry users
such as skiers, snowshoers, climbers, hikers and more. Chris
McNeil is a Safety & Education Coordinator for Wyoming State Trails.
