Av Gas/Race Fuel... Drop in Kit

Nobody has mentioned the gas itself.

Do you get it from a name-brand, high volume dealer?
Have you checked for the TRUE ethanol content/water in your fuel?

How long has it been sitting in your sled... was there ANY gas left over from last season or even more than 3 months old?

Do you use any kind of additive in your fuel?

Also, what other mods do you have on your sled?

I suggest removing ALL your gas... and put fill with fresh, trusted gas instead.

What mapping are you using (numbers)?

Other mods? Can? Pipe, airbox mods, reeds... When did you add them if you added.

Which weights are you running? A friend had issues with DET on his sled with MDS and then tried series-10 weights and the RKT Drop-in kit on his 2013 PRO 800...
Dave changed out to to the Rooster weights like JKinzer recommended... DET was gone. 14:1 at 5800 ft... 91 pump gas with 10%.

.

More weight in the midrange is a MUST , You cant run these motors over 8500!

Set it up to run 8400 with a super hot pipe and hard pack . your banging off the rev limiter and this is causing your DET problem. Over all I think your close with 71 grams but more in the heal would help

That doesn't explain my issues, I have fresh gas, det is occurring from 1/4 throttle at 5600 to full throttle and 8400 rpm... I've put the ethanol plug in with same results, 100:1 oil first tank, no problems 4 tanks after break in tank. OAT is the variable for me, I have switched new spark plugs same result. I have a 2012 with same kit and no issues, same weights same fuel cause it's coming outta same fuel tank, four other sleds using same fuel, no issues. Mine is electronics... I had stuttering issues while it was stock!

#1. Load up the weights, if it goes away, you were too light. Many have found this, without the tach even indicating over-rev...

#2. If that doesnt work, blend race fuel. If that helps, you needed more octane.

#3. If neither of those first two work, then start looking for other causes.

Well I just got home from a good weekend in the U.P. Sled ran like a top all weekend didn't miss a beat. I had previously siphoned out all of the old gas and put in fresh 91 no ethanol. I ran that all weekend and never even got a hint of det. Btw I have a buddy up there we always meet up with that serves as our local tour guide. He puts us in the most extreme, steep, technical ravines and bluff country that I ride anywhere, including 10+ places I have ridden out west. I rode er hard an put away wet. Same thing the second day. Rolled it pry 10 times, WOT climbs in the 15-20 second range and by golly she just kept on running. Planning on scoping the cyls this week but I'm confident they look good. My buddy has the exact same sled minus the drop in kit and I was hoping to find a place to line em up. It never worked out, so instead we just swapped sleds for a half hour to get his seat of the pants reading. He yanks his helmet off after a nice pull, "Holysmokes this thing is a ripper! I could get used to this!" So yeah pretty sold on the abilities of my current setup.

has anyone with the drop in kit and det issues been able to remedy the problem?
my 12 pro has 500 miles on the kit has had det problems (full limp) since day one. tried race gas, added a fuel controller, plugged into digital wrench, tried different exhaust components (stock to stock), added weight (maybe i could go more but rpm's aint telling me that), even changed motor mounts. nothing seems to have cured it. hits det in inconsistent spots. some days a lot some days only a little. when its not in det it runs real nice. comp is currently at 130pto 132mag.
any ideas?

I've hit det and rev limiter a few times and never seen anything over 8400 on the gauge but my BD box would show 8550+. Either the gauge isn't accurate or it isn't fast enough.
