av gas or v.p

hey guys i bought a 2012 800 pro rmk , , boondocker race fuel turbo , now do i use v.p race fuel or av gas , 8-10 lbs boost , dealer sais av gas , help me out , thanks!!

I would recommend AV gas. At those levels on my pro I blend 50 Av 50 premium 91 at 7-10k. I've ran both and Av seems to burn hotter with my blend and runs better. Plus it's much cheaper and accessible

10 pounds, thats a av gas deal, and thats nice.....start with 100% and wean it off from there. Yes it will run better on a blend of pump at C14 (14 best in the cold btw) but cost is stupid for a few hp. I like the av gas up to 12 pounds

NOW make sure you get the blue 100 LL av gas, DO NOT run the red 87 !! just a reminder

Ah I miss the days of the 110/130 green av gas !!

Or the amazing 115/145 super octane fuel

most all smaller local airports will sell it, oh just remember that any more octane than you need is a total waste and will in fact make LESS power, so blend to suit your motor

Besides the octane... AV gas has different thermal properties than race gas.

MON of VP 110 about 106/7
MON of AV gas about 104

I run avgas in my dragon turbo with 9pds of boost, the previous owner was mixing 1 gallon of race fuel to 4 gallons of premium. I am running it straight but I will be mixing it this yr. I have always ran avgas in all my mod motors and have never had a problem.

i am from nelson b c and the dealer sais to go to the shell bulk , av gas is cheaper than premium , all new to me!!

Drive down to the airport in Nelson and you should be able to buy some. I'm guessing that your dealer is Mainjet (being that you are from Nelson), if not stop in and talk to them as they should be able to answer nearly all your questions.

on the dyno we never had any issues with it up to aprox 14 pounds boost, Anything over that I would durn sure have real race gas in the tank ( C16 or better) IMHO

Good thread. Was thinking the same re: Av Fuel

Would be great if someone actually did some dyno runs with varying fuels on similarly set up sleds.
Going BD Turbo this week. Likely riding it next weekend. So, to be safe 50/50 91 and Av fuel? Riding 8k' and above. Less than 8-9 pounds of boost.

Interested in your comment and I am not trying to argue. Above 14lbs did you have problems, explain? What elevation is the dyno at? Do you know what the equivalent boost at 9000 feet would be? Thanks in advance.

I think that you will be just fine. I run a BD turbo on my dragon and had it up to 12lbs on a 50 50 avgas mix and did numerous long pulls. My brother runs a turbo XP and he has ran 12 lbs on 50 to 50 mix no problems and no intercooler. I know they are different machines but based on those I think 50 to 50 mix you will be fine especially on the polaris with their compression being so low. FYI just make sure your clutching is on. The problems that most where having with det last year was actually clutching. Over-revving hitting rev limiters shows as det.

we have 2 rmk pro turbo kits on the way..have done lots of research and found in the fort st john area b.c..it is by far cheaper to mix 91 from the bulk plant non ethanol.. with torco fuel accelorator mixed to 102 octane. we can make 820 liters of 102 octane for 1.70 - 1.80 per liter depending on the preimum price.. that includes the price of torco and fuel.. oh yeah 5 gallons of torco accelorator..

How much you guys paying for 5 gallons? I like the idea of no having to pack a whole bunch of fuel when i go on trips. Bring your 5 gallon pale of the additive and pull up to the pump!
