AV Gas 100LL

Ran this for the first time this weekend, I noticed the inside of the exhaust was light grey and not the normal dark black I normally see when using premium fuel. Is this the way it is? Or should I stick with Premium?
08 Nytro MTX MCX, head shim, 12 lbs, riding 1500 ft last weekend, normally at 6000 ft.

hmmmm any issues with running it? have heard some people discuss it is not designed for High RPM engines...which does not seem to jive with me...octane is octane, and WAY cheaper than 110 octane race fuel

Way cheaper. $3.69 vs. $9.50 per gallon up here. I'm contemplating on what to do. Has anyone ran a 50/50 blend of 110 and 100LL? I would still probably want the straight race for anything over 17 lbs.

From what I'v read on av gas is that it fine to run it is 100 motor octane. Most 110 octane race fuel is only 104 motor octane. I,v been running 100ll at 15-16 lbs of boost and it works great pluse the airport is half mile down the road from my house.

very cool...I am only running 10 lbs. of boost...and technically only need 97-98 octane for my elevation...this will be fantastic!!!

I'm running it with 10 lbs of boost, no issues
I ran 3 drums of VP last year before switching to Av gas. If I had any hesitation about running it I would switch back to VP.

I know this has been asked and answered alot, but just looking for a little real world experience on this. I'm running a 2860 BD kit on my Apex, Carillo's, 9.5:1 JE gas ported pistons. What kind of boost can I safely run on straight 100LL at 7-10K feet?

At those elevations you should be safe up to 17-18 lbs. I'm running 10:1 pistons (stock head gasket) and should be good to 15 lbs. at much lower elevations. (1500-5000 ft). I believe Turbo Tim ran 17 lbs. on his mcx Apex all year on straight AV with a head shim (9.1 - 9.3:1), at the same elevations I'm running.

I've just heard from some prominent engine builders that the 100LL is not the best way to go on a tricked out motor. Seems people have had good experiences though.

I to would like to here some thoughts on mixing,if guys are doing it or not. I buy my av. gas for not much more the pump gas. So it would make the drum last a little longer and keep the octane up. But also mixing with pump is a waste of good fuel so i dont ever do it imo.

I run av gas in my powderlites 2560 up to 14 pounds boost. Stock motor at 1400' elevation & stock compression. Boost calculator says i am good to 18 pounds boost.
