ATV's this summer

Coming from MN been there snowmobilng but would love to see the mountains in the summer.
I hear July is the best time

I have no idea what to expect, it sounds like there are a lot of trials and I can get maps.
Are 4x4 ATV's must or will a sport quad be all right?

July is a great time to come.

Sport quads will work fine for almost all the trails in the Bighorns with a few exceptions.

Have you decided what area you want to see in the Bighorns ( North or South)? Either side offers great ATV trails. Are you planning on staying in a town (Buffalo or Sheridan) or prefer to stay on the mountain either by camping or staying at a lodge?

We just got back from the Snowies where we rented a house. That worked great and would prefer to do that in the Big Horns

When we snowmobile the Big Horns we stay at Bear Lodge. I'm sure we would stay there or Elk View. I think both rent ATV's?

What would be prefered for ATV's, northern or southern Big Horns

The South side is my preference only because we live there and its close for us. Both sides have great ATV oppertunities and views. There is a place in Buffalo that rents ATV's and campers, they will take them up the mountain and have them waiting for your arrival if that intrests you.
