ATV riding on Snowmobile trails

I was up in the snowies a few years ago and I had my ATV with me. We were only renting sleds so on the last day we were there I was riding my 4-wheeler down the trail. Some guy told me that WY does not allow wheeled vehicle on the snowmobile trails.
Any one know if this is true?

It tears up the trails and I know most people wouldnt want you on there regardless if it is legal.

In all areas I ride in, once grooming starts, 4-wheelers wouldn't be very welcome.
