I lost the cords out of the left side of my belt @ 250 mi, clutches are WAY HOT!

Long story short I go to the dealer I bought my sled from (Mtn Air Power Sports in Evanston, Wy) and the head mechanic tells me that is the way they are and there is nothing that they can do.

I ask if he can just check the clutch alignment and he says " you cant adjust these, there is no way to adjust them."

I ask if when they setup my sled they set the pin weight to the "High Altitude Spec" and the answer that I get is " well if you want me too I can pull the weight out."

And then they charge me 50$ to do what he should have done when I paid the 500$ set up fee.

And they would not take care of the belt either.

I wish I had a copy of this bulletin to put in the mechanics face when I was there.

Sorry Just had to vent:mad:

"the #1 cause of chords popping from a belt leading to failure is misalignment."

the way I did it was look at the belt when the pulleys are shifted out (caution because you are looking at it without the clutch cover on and the engine is eing reved up)... anyway at idle you will see the belt looks really out of line. With RPMs you will see the belt sraighten out... this is where you want to adjust the alignment to be as straight as possible. You can make lateral adjustments of the motor by loosening the four mounts and then you can bar it over one way or the other until you get the belt as straight as possible.. it is a trial and error thing because you bar the belt over, tighten the bolts rev up the sled and check to see if the belt is straight with RPMs... I did that and got better performance and got over 1000 miles before a 377 belt trashed. I have since gone to a Team for better performance and easier maintenance..

Did you measure your offset after all that dangerous stuff? It would be interesting to see what it is.

LOL we learned this way after spending time with some of the top drag racers from the mid west... yep not safe but you get a true alignment just by eye balling it...
no, did not make any measurements...
