I'm about to install my atacc compensator on my 03 vertical escape and I find the instructions to be kind of vague. Would anyone have pics of there install? Just wondering where everything is supposed to be mounted.

ATAAC installation

I'm about to install my atacc compensator on my 03 vertical escape and I find the instructions to be kind of vague. Would anyone have pics of there install? Just wondering where everything is supposed to be mounted.

I don't have a sled here to take pix, but I've installed the ATAAC on several 2001-2002-2003 EDGE's

I mounted the them on the far right side, MAG side, BELOW the shelf, BOTH units INSIDE the air box. Both holes drilled into the mag side of the air box for mounting, end up being close to the disc brake caliper.

The gizmo with the sponge filter on it gets mounted as high as possible inside the airbox, under the shelf, and as far forward as possible. Drill a 1/2" or 5/8" hole for the fitting to go through the air box, it's kinda loose fitting but it works. This will hook with adapters to the 1/4" VACUUM line that goes to the top lid of one of the carbs.

Hook the sponge filter with a short as possible hose to the gizmo.

The white plastic cylindrical "gizmo" gets mounted directly below the gizmo with the sponge filter on it. This has a 3/8" stud on it with an internal allen head, you must hold on to it with an allen wrench when tightening the ny-lock, or the stud will just spin.

Then drill out (5/16") the right side (MAG) of the 3 plastic barb fittings on the air box and slide the pressure hose out that way, connect to a "T" and use the stock carb vent lines hook to the "T"

Drill and tap the carb lid 1/8" PIPE. I don't like the fitting (that comes with the kit) that's pressed in, I.M.H.O.) I went to the hardware store and purchased an 1/8" to 1/4" slip on brass barb fitting. Just match drill out the inside of the barb fitting to match the I.D. supplied the press-in fitting. This VACUUM source "powers" the ATAAC unit.

If you have a more technical question, give Barry Holtzman a call in Eagle River , Wisconsin. He actually answers the telephone. Real nice guy (and a fuel system guru) to talk to.

I hope this helps

Thanks guys that was very helpful. I hope to get it installed tomorrow!

Remember to install MAIN jets for MINUS 20* at your BASE ELEVATION.

For example, my 2002 EDGE-X 800, set at 600' (flatlander) before the ATAAC I trailered it ot to YELLOWSTONE, ran 390 mains at 6000-8000'

480 mains at 600' w/o ATAAC

500 MAINS w/ ATAAC, Needle clips in the middle (stock) position

HOLTZMAN KEIHIN

has anyone installed this on the keihin carb ? allready have the kit

I have not, (I did 'em on a 2001 Yamaha 700) but the only "connection" to the carbs is;

1) Float bowl vent lines (same as above on EDGE / Mikuni application)

2) Vacuum source to power the ATAAC - there should be instructions that came from Holtzman regarding where to "tie in" for the vacuum source, if Not, give Holtzman a call, he'll answer your questions right over the phone.

Real knowledgeable and helpful guy.

Other than that, the rest of the info posted above applies.
