ATACC Install in Grande Prairie

Does anyon know where the best place to get an atacc set up in or around GP? I bought a mod motor and apparently is very touchy and want this set up right but I don't trust myself enough quite yet to do it.

I asked at the Polaris shop here in GP, they said they do them. There is a guy in sexsmith who has a dyno, not sure who he is but at least he could get the baseline bang on for you and probable do the install. I am installing one this weekend, my brother is a mechanic so freebie for me. Did you but it online? I picked mine up for $240 they wanted $350 here.

I was talking to the Mod Shop and he wouldn't even consider it. For some reason he's totally against it. He was sayin that they don't do a good job at the dealer in GP but I've never heard from someone who actually had it done. I've never heard of the guy in Sexsmith either. Mine actually came with the motor I bought. The guy bought it all but never ran the motor so he never put it on.

I was going to suggest you Talk to Rob at The Mod Shop. What about making the trek to see Ralphy at Split Second in Valleyview?

I've always had great service out of Countryside....

Yea I never thought about checking out Split Second. I would like to see if anyone has had any experience with Countryside or Gaudins before I make a trip.

It's weird how some people love the Atacc and some hate it, I bought a bunch of SLP mods for my sled and there lead tech highly recomended it, once set up it provides a constant state of tune. The baseline is the key and the routing of tubes, if the lines are not put in right the fuel dumps into the tube when you carving or maybe on a steep hill and it gets a big plie of fuel and no air.

They are relativly simple to install but follow the instructions to a "T". I've done a couple and they work perfectly. I would take your time and do it yourself that way you know how they work and how to fix it.

PM me if you have and questions about installation. I'll even be in G.P on wedensday if your really in a bind and need a hand.

Yea maybe I might try it myself and see what happens. Thanks for the offer T-BO. I won't be home for another 2 weeks yet it looks like, stuck up in Dawson Creek. On another note too does anyone know if I can use an 800 stator and flywheel in a 700 if I use the 800 wire harness and cdi? They're both non-ves, been told it would work but want to make sure.

Agree with T-BO the ATTAC install is fairly simple, the hardest part is installing a nipple on the carb cover! Make sure all the tubes run up to the air box from the carbs with no low spots. Jet for the lowest elevation on the coldest day that you will ride the sled.

attac

I have nothing but the best to say about the attac. I put it in my 800 EV and made it a rocket along with some other things I tricked out on it. The attac really brings it all together. I had it set up at elk island sales I dont no if that helps, best of luck and hold on.

I put one on my VE last year. In my case it was kinda worthless because i ride too much of a variety of elevations. The lowest i ride is 600meters all the way to 3000m, and it cant compensate for that with temperature changes. Think i'm just gonna re-jet a lot this year. Maybe use the attac the odd time? Gotta remember that when putting the attac on, it makes the sled run one jet size leaner right off the bat before it even compensates. I was detonating with i think 490-500 jets down at 600meters

Sounds like there may have been an issue with your jetting or the install of your system because installing an ATACC won't lean out the motor until the the air temp rises or you gain elevation. Jetting at the base elevation and temp will be unaffected.

well, i had it tuned a bit on the lean side, then when the compensator was put on, the additional tubing etc. ended up makin it run 1 jet size leaner right off the bat, just have to err a hair on the richer side.

And it was installed correctly, might have been a bit of a carb tuning issue, i changed the carb a bit and it worked fine, but couldnt compensate enough for me and ran really rich at 3000m in 5deg. celcius temps. where it actually drowned itself out. (base was set for -29C @ about 600meters)

Yeah I could definitly see them not working effeciently when run through so much elevation change. I've only run them on mostly stock engines where one jet size is very hard to notice.

had one on my 800 last year and it was the first thing to go in the garbage. Junk! Sled wouldn't even run it was so rich, ran way better once the attac was deleted.

There must have been something wrong with the ATACC or it was installed wrong, because they are not junk and work very well when done right!!! I was able to ride my 02 800 RMK from -20C 1000 ft to +10C 6000 ft, the only adjustment I ever had to make was the fuel screws, to clean up the bottom end. Plugs were always the right color, never fouled one.

Since this is on topic with the thread, were would you guys suggest for a place in Edmonton to install one? I though about doing it myself but it seems beyond my skill seeing as I don't know how to jet the sled yet. Or maybe someone in edmonton willing to do it for some cash :face-icon-small-win
