Assault/dragon odd slider wear?

my buddy has an 09 assault, been a headache since we picked it up( you may have seen my other threads). We checked the sliders and they are wore right through, only in one spot tho, we removed the front and rear outside wheels but all the inside wheels are in place, sliders are wore right theough to the rails, but only behind where the front idler wheels would be, the rest of the sliders were ok, black onm the bottom but ok. The sled only has about 300 miles on it. Thanks!

Hyfax typically wear out in this location, under where the front torque arm bolts to rails, with or with-out bogie wheels, but not in 300 mi. Assuming you're riding in adequate snow, then I would suspect bent rails which can be hard to discern just by looking at them on sled. Best to pull skid out and look to see rails are both square and perpendicular to front and rear torque arms and to eachother. That along with what the hyfax is showing you should tell you where the problem is.

ok took some pics, My Buddy bought the sled with 250 miles on it, he has put maybe 10-15 rides(tops) since he bought it and the sliders look like this already, 90% of the riding has been in deep snow and powder, and we always stop to kick snow on the sliders if we are on the trail. Also the sled went in for a track alignment and a tighten, the mechanic said the track was all out of wack and way to loose. now the track is TIGHT! But I herd with the polaris tracks they are supposed to be tight. Also I still dont think the sled puuls like it should, i've seen a 600 RMK eat it alive. Its his first sled he's ever bought and I hate to see it having these issues. Thanks for the help.

Had a buddy with a new 09 Dragon with less than 60 miles on it and wore out the Hi-fax. Put the wheels back on! We put these on our sleds and made all the difference in the world.

I've got almost 900mi on mine with the original slides. No scratchers, just the stock wheels. You should be able to run the track fairly loose, it'll decrease wear and give you more power, less heat.

I would put another set of inexpensive OEM hyfax back on, run the snow wheels, and ALWAYS put the scratchers down on the trail, unless it's just snowed 2" or more and keep an eye on them.

The sled on the showroom at our local dealer has the scratchers inplace of the rear wheels, Have you guys mounted scratchers and the front wheels without drilling?

Looks pretty standard for a lose track running. The wave down the track has its biggest amplitude right in that location. Is worse with a lose track. Lose track does NOT mean less wear or more power.

Only takes one section of running in low snow conditions, without watching the hifax, for them to get eaten off. Put the wheels back on. Stopping to kick snow on doesn't cut it... that snow lasts for a few hundred feet then it's gone. If there are scratchers on it, run them down, even in packed powder trail riding.

Keep looking for you issue.

I put 1600 miles on my Assault, after removing all idlers but the rears, and had much less wear.

I did use OEM spring-wire style scratchers. At the end of last season my sliders were in way better condition, but worn at the same spot, right under the riders butt.

I would think you have got the limiter straps pulled all the way in, and the front shcoks way soft putting too much weight on this area of the skid, perhaps the original owner did it to prevent the insane wheeling this sled exhibits? Just a guess.

Put the sled on a FLAT surface, (not all garage floors are flat, drainage poor pour, etc.) then see if the track touches the floor all the way along the skid, if not you gots weight distribution issues.

You're right the limiter straps are all the way in
