Assault/Dragon and the Camo Extreme

I have never even ridden my '09 Assault but have the skid out of it now and the chance to sell the stock track. i am a bit intrigued of the stock track, the stiffness would be fun for wheelies! but i feel like the powder perf would leave something to be desired.

so i guess what I am asking is how do you like the camo extreme over the stock track. does the hook-up on setup snow decline severely?? is the flotation much improved with the camo?

like is said most of my riding is boondocking and climbing in preferably (god willing) deep snow. i have owned lots of 162"+ and am excited to ride something shorter but dont want to give up too much deep snow/climbing ability. so just wondering how much gains and/or losses in specific conditions i can expect. Spring riding is also a fave of mine and maybe the stock track is better for that...???

also i have heard of some guys going with the 144" 3.0 pitch extreme and running 7" drivers to gain clearance in the tunnel? what are your thoughts on this? a 2.5 extreme with 8" drivers is going to leave very little clearance i understand....

thanks alot for letting me pick your brain!

I put 800 miles on the CE last year. I love the track, but was not impressed by the wieght (9 lbs heavier than the powerclaw) I would have to think that the CE is leaps n bounds better than the Assault track. The one I rode last year was quite the trencher. I did switch to the PC for this year, maybe you should try a 90 duro PC track 141 or 153??????

i was just at the cat dealer, and man the hcr track is unreal..........unreal its almost plastic how hard it is.

16" wide track and a 15" wide tunnel so i doubt it maybe with some track shaving you could make it fit but its probably not worth it imo

I wasn't aware it had a 15" wide tunnel. With you saying that the answer is obvious. I wasn't sure what people weren't trying the 146 Doo track.

If I were lucky enough (or rich enough) to own an Assuault, I would be putting a 2.5x146 camo extreme under it. Tracks usa is now selling one just for the Assualt. No changing drivers, anything. Bolt and go. The Assualt track is terrible in powder compared to the stock dragon track. The stock Dragon track is terrible when against a camo extreme. The extreme is the best of both worlds, it is amazing how well it works in the powder given how stiff of track it is. With the stiffness, it is also what you would expect out if it on most setup snow, or spring mashed potatoes. I'm in the process of put a new camo extreme under my sled right now after riding around them last year. Being amongst them made me a believer in the extremes. I would love to have it under a new assault rather than my old iron. Ride what you got though and have fun!:beer;

the camo extreme is the all around best track for all types of snow, will be a great track in the spring for sure. the 15 wide tracks barely fit in the tunnels so you can't run a 16 wide

putting the 5.1 on tommorow on my assault - had the camo on my doo it did great but i prefer the way my wifes 700 runs in the pow so i am going to run that on my sled in the 146

Put a BD turbo on a D8 last year, turbo ran great, good performance but I felt the stock track never really hooked up and could not get it to quite jumping over the stock drivers. So I took the 2.5 extreme out of my older mod and installed it with some 7 tooth 3pitch Avid drivers ,the extrovert type of course. HOLY s&*$ It was Like I turboed it again. I feel the stock track is to soft,and the 2.5 ce is better alround also it does not trench it just takes off. The stock driver setup with the one extro stock driver in the center with no metal track clips is junk give me a break. so buy the ce 2.5 or 3.0 ,with avid drivers, it is a good setup
