Are the new Phazer's worth a crap????

Dealer here has new Phazer's (09's) for $5k, wondering how one of those little buggies would be.

Might wait for the 2010 XRS 600 or 800. Such a badass ride.

Mach:

Please name the dealer.......

I want to check this out for myself.......

Kid needs a sled, might go that route

I bought one in Dec from 61 Marine for 4500 it was an 08. Awesome little sled got lots of bottom end and goes good to 75-80. Very light sled awesome for the ditch. Could use a little better suspension but it works non the less. I would buy another one but it wouldnt cut it for the Mountain.

Mach if you want to try it out let me know I dont live that far from you. I'm back in town March 8th

Jeff it was our local chit dealer Tousley! lol

Kind of had to take a double take as they had a decent price on something...

It was the black and orange one I believe. I have to head up there after work here to pick up some goggle lenses but I will double check, but last time I was in there I sat and looked very hard at it. Would be a fun little sled for around here. They even had Nytro's for a decent price!

Thanks Turbo, I might have to take you up on it if they won't let me test one out at the dealer. My 07 440 X was about the same top speed, maybe a tad more, and had crazy low end, so the little phazer might be alright. I loved the 440 I had but Holy crap it sucked the gas down so fast that it wasn't even fun because I had to fill up ever 40 miles or so.

Tried one for the first half of this season. It's for sale now. As for being a good sled for kids or women........the wife didn't like it either. Too tippy and just not enough power for mountain riding. However, you're getting a lot of sled for $5000 with warranty. In my opinion not worth anymore than that.

Awesome kids sleds. Remember, they are only eighty horse. When a full grown adult gets on it is a little under powered for the hills. I have two and my sons can go anywhere I go. Try one and decide for yourself. You are the one that is going to pay for and ride it.

Rode one over Christmas, hated it. Maybe I didn't take time to get used to it but it was gutless, tippy, and the running boards gathered more snow than any sled I have been on. granted we were trying to take it in places it probably shouldn't have been, I still would never own one.

My wife and kids love them. We have 2. I would hardly describe riding in the Greystokes as "mountain riding". Great family area though :p
For what the intended market is, I think they fit the bill quite nicely.

75-80??? that must be kmph, know my buddies won't go 30mph on broken road downhill!!!! worst deep powder sled you can buy, if your a trail rider go for it!

I think you hit the nail on the head. I wouldn't feel safe letting anyone inexperienced ride these things, it will toss them when they least expect it. They are very nervous, twitchy handling.
And they definitely struggle in the powder.
The engine is decent with 80 hp and is excellent on fuel. The engine is bulletproof but you may want to check out all the warranty and recall items on this sled.

ditto, raced one last year...thing wanted to toss me all over the place..and did. :p Heavy and weight is focused all up front:rolleyes:..so the back end wants to swap out all the time. Would probably be a great kids sled being 85 ponies, but there is a reason why guys turbo them! :D So I would lean more to waiting on another sled. Just my two cents!:)

I should have mentioned this thing will be used for bombing down ditches and trail riding in MN.

It can't be any more tippy then my 440 was without a sway bar coming into a corner hot.

If I go out west like I am this weekend I rents sleds.

M8 is $160. I'll trash there sleds lol

Rode one last year, didn't care for this sled at all! Had good bottom end but it hit a wall when u got to 50 mph. Handling was terrible. Reminded me of a Yamaha Ovation my daughter had once, not very stabil.

I have one for my wife. She likes to tour down the trails and venture into the odd meadow. For that it works fine. Quiet, good on fuel, the only wrenching I have to do on it is regular maintenance stuff.

I used to ride it when my XP was in the shop (whole other story) and it was fun in the parking lot, other than that it was tedious to ride.

For a trail sled it fits the bill. other than that, there are some awesome deals on RMK shifts out there which is a much better sled for near the same money.

My friend has a phazer and we live close to the james river in SD, the worlds slowest moving river so it has long sweeping curves. I have an 09 crossfire 800, and we ride with a guy that has an 09 rmk 700 with like a 155" and no sway bar, and a 98 zr 600, we can all corner way better than the phazer. It can only take a long sweeping curve at 30 mph or he has ski lift and it pushes bad. It overheats all of the time too.

My point exactly. If it doesn't fit the bill in Graystokes, it likely won't be a great mountain sled.
Nice "Dig' though Climbmax.......There are a lot of guys out there whose standards I''l never meet. Gave up trying years ago :D
