Arctic Cat Dealerships

Just wondering if anyone else has had there arctic cat dealer drop cat because of cat forcing them to take on so many new sleds every year. The local cat dealer recently dropped cat and i was told that was the reason why. I have also heard of some other dealers close by doing the same thing. Any one else have this happen in their area.

we lost our cat and doo dealers for the same reason. where there were many are now just a few...

One dealer dropped arctic cat this year and another one picked it up. But I have a hard time buying anthing from them cause there prices are ridiculous and unwilling to deal.

My local shop was only forced to buy 5 sleds from Cat this season. Last year was their first year as a dealer and they had to buy 12 sleds from Cat (which they still have 6+ 2012's).

yea i dont know for sure but i know in my line of sales, companies want to try and always up your previous years sales by a percentage. for instance increase last years sales by 10% or whatever. It almost reaches a point where there isn't enough turnover fast enough. I know the dealership near myself sounded like that was kind of the issue, but again i dont know for sure just was wondering if anyone has had the same thing going on.

yup same in the midwest. Mom and pop dealers that dont move a ton are gone. they want the glitz and glam dealers that have to sell everything at retail to keep the doors open. And more times than not, they dont know anything, dont know your name and have 8.00/hr guys putting you 12k sled together.

All manufacturers encourage you take certain numbers of machines. Cat, BRP, yammi, ktm, Suzuki, doesnt matter, they couldn't make money if they didnt. I can take as many or as few from any of the brands we sell. You do get better incentives the more you buy. It's up to you to sell them.

We have two local cat dealers, or I should say had. One dropped cat for the same reason, they told me they had leftover sleds they couldn't sell and cat insisted they order lots of new ones. This was a few years ago.

MT law prevents them from doing that in the state, dealerships only have to buy what they want not what AC tells them too.

MT law cannot dictate what incentives are offered at different levels of dealer participation (volume).
examples; floorplan assistance, holdback percentages, PG&A margins etc

Point being these companies can make you play ball by their terms or else be at a huge disadvantage to your competition.

Issaquah, WA lost our Cat dealer. Went out of business. Have to drive at least an hour now.

According to both cat dealerships I've talked in my valley that MT has a legislation that says they don't have to be forced inventory! Because cat typically tells it's dealers this is how many your taking but MT is different! This is what both dealerships I've been to have told me.

That maybe correct but what Mafesto is referring to is that if a MT dealer only takes the number he can sell, the A/C dealer down the road in MT or ID, can take 100 and get them at a reduced cost or a better floorplanning rate from A/C thus being able to offer them to the public at a reduce price. It is not forcing them, but it sure makes it hard for them to compete.

We lost our local Polaris dealer a few years back to the forced inventories....
