Arctic Cat Cuts Outlook On Weak Sales of ATVs

Maybe if they had delivered the THUNDERCAT when promised, or at least gave a straight answer when the folks who plunked down big $$$ for them asked when they were gonna get them, less people would have asked for their money back. Coulda helped the ol bottom line.

The funny thing is.....seems that every year one of the manufacturers is doing the same thing. Profits are down cutbacks are inevidable...holy sh!t we're going broke. If in fact if that is true then I hope the best for each of them. Maybe they need to take a look at their product line and drop the ones that don't sell so regularly. JMO :(

Old news around here. I heard a few months back they're closing the plant in Madison SD if they havn't done it already. I think the economy is hurting the industry as a whole, not just one manufacturer.

now that oil has hit $100 and gas will most likely be 4 bucks this summer, how many people do you think will have extra cash for quads when its over $100 bucks to fill there pickup everyweek?

I don't know about you guys, but my opinion of the sled market is they gotta build a product that doesn't need immediate customizing to maximize it's performance. Or in some cases make it work at all. After spending 10K dollars on a toy, it had better damn well work out of the box!!!

The Madison plant closed earlier this yr. Polaris also cut back and started bringing things closer to home. 1 more flood in Roseau will see that plant shut down also. Poo has been expanding into industrial areas, ATV expansion into other areas, and motorcycles. When you look at companies likes Bombardier and Yamaha that are diversified (to say the least) how can the other 2 compete with R&D funds and the like? How many models does Yamaha have out? Ski Doo? They key on the bread & butter sleds, profitably. They have pockets deeper than the pants legs combined of the other 2. Polaris knows it and has been agressively pursuing other interests outside of the snowmobile realm. Their model line has been slimmed and more sharply focused on where the sales are-in the mtns.
