I've been on the waiting list for the four-stroke smartcarb info and APT just sent an update that the 40mm billet FCR replacement (side-pull) smartcarb will be available April 01 for $875 (along with some new top-pull 2stroke sizes as well).

Looking forward to a couple early adopters running them over the summer so come next fall, I can decide if that is the route I want to go. Have been leaning that way, but will be nice to get feedback from early adopters.

Be prepared for a lengthy wait. The last release guys waited a long time past the first release date. I'm sure it will be a great carb. It will take time though.

I will have the new FCR for testing soon. I will also NOT be using an older carbbed bike for testing. I will be using a new efi 450f. The fuel pump and throttle body will be removed and replaced with the new APT , FCR. This will be fun. 10/14 % more HP and better fuel economy. No wires, no tuners, spot on AFR's at any temp, any altitude... hummm... This could be huge.

Yeah, I watched that unfold from afar. Felt bad for all the guys that waited a year for their pre orders to be filled for the cast carbs. I think the billets have fewer growing pains than the cast carbs and perhaps the available dates have been set more realistically for this launch.

I planned to get one this year when APT first predicted beginning of january, but April will be too late to make it worth it for this season. Since i don't swap my bike back to wheeled summer duty, I'll let the summer riders give these a try.

I know there have been a few bugs to work out with the 2stroke carbs and some even found it hard to get needed a/f ratios, but lots of success stories, too, so I am hopeful. Though my 525 stock carb with JD Jetting kit has ran great except for a rare icing, I would like to eliminate the breather tubes and that routing, replace the stock thermostat with avid housing and add smartcarb heater setup. Then I have zero reason to upgrade from my 2004 to the 2012+ KTMs that I had fancied but been unable to justify since I don't swap for summer. Ha.

can't wate

I gave up on a smartie and bought a LECTRON, just to see if there is another world out there on correct air fuel mixtrure on 4 stroke single. No ding on the smartie, just didn't have one.

There is something better than oriental fuel air mixing.

My lectron is not ABSOLUTLEY SPOT ON ....... no question perfect. Not yet.
I am working on perfection, I don't expect to get there, but I am already along ways down the road pass really good.

Miles ahead of the stock KEIHIN CARB
Miles ahead of JD Needles/Orings/boyseen pump/blue fuel screws on the stock carb , I have a 10 lb box and many dollars worth of Keihin parts. Rumage sale stuff now.

I'm hoping the smarties will be even better.......let up know.
