How long should a valve set with adjustments take? Just got mine back for the dealer 8 hrs (600 bucks) on the bill is that typical?

I dont know the book time, but its a big job. The bucket shims cost alot for the size of them. Smaller then the end of a pencil. Depends what is over your valve cover?, then coils, tdc sensor, valve cover. Measure all 20 valves, write the info down. If they are out remove camshafts caps, then cams, replace shims. Put camshafts back in, caps, make sure its in time, check adjustment. If all good, reinstall, sometimes, the chart is off, is so, take alpart & adjust shims. I have done a couple of them, really want to make sure the shim is sitting perfect of a mess is going to happen. Prices of the bucket shims range from $3 to $5 bucks each.

The shims are on top of that.....This is just labor.......yep rear mnt.....oh well leason learned get a quote next time..
