Apex Timber Sled front end Questions

ok tell me what you guys think of this front end? Do you like the fact that it has so much positive caster? Is it harder to steer on packed snow then the stock set-up? Does anyone know what the caster is on a stock sled?

Lastly this spindle/ball joint design has alot of play in it when you take the weight off the front end and push the ski forward and back.

Just looking for your thoughts. Thanks Eric

eric, are you having caster or camber issues? if you have loose stuff, pieces are available seperately from TS. i havent rode on mine yet but i will next weekend at togwotee. so i am no help really. LOL! ski

I have not ridden this sled yet but went through it all this weekend. The a-arm bushings were fine but the bulkhead bushings were shot. Even with new bulkhead bushings it still has more play then what I would like.

After working on the sled I took a bunch of caster out of it. I have to believe with that much positive caster is the reason why its wearing front end parts out so bad.

I set the camber as close to zero as I could.

I just wanted to get it together so I can test ride it this week and play with the settings. I have a feeling I will be redesigning this front end over the next several weeks.

have you contacted the guys at TS directly? i have heard that their customer service is great. since they produce these they might have more answers. just my two cents. let me know what you find out. i was going to put their kit on but had heard of these issues.

thanks

I had a heim joint come apart already. Only 100 miles or so on it.

Not sure if this is a common theme.

Don't care fot the tighter steering and it seems very squirrely on the trail.
