apex head gasket

hey guys
have a questions about head gaskets... boondocker kit says to put a head gasket on the top and bottom of the head shim.... alpine uses 1 head gasket and splits it.... i already bot 2 head gaskets, what do you guys think of both?

thanks mike:beer;

I would say you better check with them, they may be counting on the extra thickness of the extra gasket for their compression ratio they desire. I split mine also, but this was on a powderlites kit. not sure how much one gasket would change the ratio, but still better ask.

shim

probably depends on what you want to run. if you want to run pump and be really safe put both in. I know mcx splits one and runs a smaller head shim than boondocker. mcx is 59thow. plus one gasket boondocker is 63thow and they recomend two gaskets. each gasket is about 20 thow. I have been wondering if there is anyone who knows what that gives you for compresion. julio

That octain fuel chart can show you your compression on ttl yamaha. You have enter your head shim thickness to get your dynamic comp ratio. I have a powderlites and have a .040 thou shim with 2 full gaskets. If you have a .060 and split a gasket, it ends up the same thickness. Yammy gaskets are like 18-19 thou. And of course subtract or any head decking. hope that helps
